Rafi & Klee at their best
Revisado: 04-02-23
I don't know them personally, but YT threw at me one of their videos about 18 months ago. Since then, every time I consumed their content it made me feel good. It's a niche thing, don't get into it if you're not a creative person. I am more hustle oriented than the author, but when I felt like I needed a mental pick-up, I turned on their chatter. It helped me and gave me the confidence I needed! This (book) is also the first time I paid for anything produced by them, to showcase how open and authentic these guys are. Partially thanks to them, I've founded a thriving art studio, Staten Island Art & Culture. Feel free to visit anytime, I am infinitely grateful for the morale boost from Rafi & Klee!

Historia
Language defines us as a species, placing humans head and shoulders above even the most proficient animal communicators. But it also beguiles us with its endless mysteries, allowing us to ponder why different languages emerged, why there isn't simply a single language, how languages change over time and whether that's good or bad, and how languages die out and become extinct.

Charming and informative
Revisado: 09-12-20
One of the best courses in the series. One can expect a thoroughly professional outline of what language is and how it evolved into what we see and understand (or not), with warm personal input and no hidden ideology behind.
Highly recommended to anyone who likes languages in any shape of form.

Historia
Is bourbon the quintessential American liquor? Bourbon is not just alcohol - the amber-colored drink is deeply ingrained in American culture and tangled in American history. From the early days of raw corn liquor to the myriad distilleries that have proliferated around the country today, bourbon is a symbol of the United States. This course traces bourbon's entire history, from the 1700s, with Irish, Scottish, and French settlers setting up stills and making distilled spirits in the New World, through today's booming resurgence.

Historia
Colonel Joe Bishop made a promise and he's going to keep it; taking the captured alien starship Flying Dutchman back out. He doesn't agree when the UN decides to send almost 70 elite Special Operations troops, hotshot pilots, and scientists with him; the mission is a fool's errand he doesn't expect to ever return from. At least, this time, the Earth is safe, right? Not so much.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Historia
Most people want to avoid thinking about death, but Caitlin Doughty - a 20-something with a degree in medieval history and a flair for the macabre - took a job at a crematory, turning morbid curiosity into her life’s work. With an original voice that combines fearless curiosity and mordant wit, Caitlin tells an unusual coming-of-age story full of bizarre encounters, gallows humor, and vivid characters (both living and very dead).

Revisado: 12-11-17
it's sad that people stigmatize those who want to learn more about death, especially considering that it's inevitable. First, I thought to recommend this book to anyone I know who reads, but I know outright and in advance that half of the people are going to be afraid to even listen for the free first five minutes

Historia
Forty years ago Israeli psychologists Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky wrote a series of breathtakingly original studies undoing our assumptions about the decision-making process. Their papers showed the ways in which the human mind erred systematically when forced to make judgments about uncertain situations. Their work created the field of behavioral economics, revolutionized Big Data studies, advanced evidence-based medicine, led to a new approach to government regulation, and made Michael Lewis' work possible.

entirely male-dominated account... at some point I caught myself waiting for a single positive Adjective to describe a female scientist, since there were so many accounts of praise to male scientists. Yet, there was nothing. Bravo, psychologists! (actually very sad)
