Plot problems
Revisado: 07-20-23
In addition to some plot problems that I won’t mention due to spoilers, in my opinion, any novel that feels the need to have a story depend on hurting animals shouldn’t be published.

Far too long for the plot
Revisado: 06-21-23
Narrator is good by himself but sounds far older than characters. Far too many plots tried to weave together.

Historia
As yuletide settles upon Gwenafwy Abbey, the rural Welsh convent's peace is shattered when Tiffany Reese, president of the Village Art Society, is found dead on the floor of the parish hall. Sister Agatha, whose interests lie more with reading and writing mystery stories than with making the abbey's world-renowned organic gouda, is not shy about inserting herself into the case. With the not-entirely eager assistance of Father Selwyn, she begins her investigation.

Historia
You are a failed novelist about to turn 50. A wedding invitation arrives in the mail: Your boyfriend of the past nine years is engaged to someone else. You can't say yes - it would be too awkward - and you can't say no - it would look like defeat. On your desk are a series of invitations to half-baked literary events around the world. Question: How do you arrange to skip town? Answer: You accept them all.

I honestly didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. If I were to explain the plot, it might not sound interesting, but it really was. And, I liked the ending.

Historia
Lord and Lady Baaden-Boomethistle have been in residence for some weeks now, and the villagers are hoping for a return to the good old days, when the lord of the manor sprinkled benefits across the village like fairy dust. Father Max Tudor's invitation to dinner at the Hall comes as a welcome novelty; it will be his first time meeting the famous family that once held sway in the area.

Big twist in the end
Revisado: 11-14-18
The characters are very good. I didn't expect this author to pull out an ending that didn't track with the ongoing story though. I am normally a very big fan of G. M. Malliet. It was nice, though, to get another back-story wrapped up. A bit too much religiosity.

Historia
In the dead of the night, a man is found murdered, locked in the stocks on the village green. Unfortunately for Superintendent Hannasyde, the deceased is Andrew Vereker, a man hated by nearly everyone, especially his odd and unhelpful family members. The Verekers are as eccentric as they are corrupt, and it will take all Hannasyde's skill at detection to determine who's telling the truth, and who is pointing him in the wrong direction. The question is: who in this family is clever enough to get away with murder?

A bit disappointed
Revisado: 11-14-18
The story kept my interest but I have to say that I didn't like any of the characters nor do I think they were written realistically. I expected the title of the book to play a MUCH bigger place in the story.

Characters with no resemblance to humans
Revisado: 02-03-18
Would you try another book from Carlene O'Connor and/or Caroline Lennon?
No
What could Carlene O'Connor have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Too many to mention
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance was fine but the story was so poor, it was hard to pay attention to the narrator.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Irritation with the author
Any additional comments?
The author makes the characters contradict themselves every few lines; the characters don't react like any humans I've ever met; the incredibly weak story relies completely on every character lying every time they speak.
