Historia
England, 1914. The world is at war. Captain Hastings, injured and shaken, is invited to Styles Court to recover. It’s a grand old country house - the family home of his old friend - and a perfect haven. Or so it seems. But in the blistering summer heat, trouble is afoot. Simmering tensions are tearing the family apart, and it all comes to a head in the most horrifying way.

Well done by all involved, especially the voice of Poirot. Agatha’s work came to life. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hope you will do other Agatha Christie novels as well. Thank you.

Historia
In 2008, nine mountaineers failed to return from a winter backpacking trip in the New Mexico mountains. At their final campsite, searchers found a bizarre scene: something had appeared at the door of their tent so terrifying that it impelled them to slash their way out and flee barefoot to certain death in a blizzard. Despite a diligent search, only six bodies were found, two violently crushed and inexplicably missing their eyes. The case, given the code name “Dead Mountain” by the FBI, was never solved. Now, two more bodies from the lost expedition are unexpectedly discovered in a cave.

Historia
A startling crime with dozens of victims. Appearing out of nowhere to horrify the quiet resort town of Sanibel Island, Florida, dozens of identical, ordinary-looking shoes float in on the tide and are washed up on the tropical beach—each one with a crudely severed human foot inside.

Liked the Florida Setting
Revisado: 03-03-20
The Florida location was interesting. However, I didn’t get why it was necessary for the story to have a dog killed or the part about killing of prized horse or the description of a horse breaking its legs. None of those things added anything to the main story. In fact, I almost stopped listening after the dog part which was at the beginning and terrible. The rest of the story was not enjoyable either. The narrator was very good and he carried the weak characters and bizarre plot as best as possible.

The Moonraker project has a millionaire backer, the war hero Sir Hugo Drax - a man who, it seems, cheats at cards. With a ballistic rocket at stake, Sir Hugo's exposure could threaten Britain's latest defense system, so James Bond is asked to investigate. Moving from London's most exclusive gambling club to a missile silo on the Channel coast, 007 and his Special Branch assistant, Gala Brand, discover there's more to Drax than meets the eye.

Never read the book? Unbelievable.
Revisado: 05-27-19
This is the 3rd book where the narrator has admitted to not ever having read the book he was hired to read for the project. Although all of them did well enough with their narrations, I don’t understand hiring someone who has no interest or knowledge of Bond or Ian Fleming’s works.

Great idea to incorporate Agatha Christie into the story. Good research on the time period and interesting presentation with a good mystery. Narrator brought it to life. Kept my attention from start to finish in one afternoon.

Melodramatic
Revisado: 01-26-11
I know the author put in a great deal of work/effort to write this story and Scott Brick did likewise to narrate it. However, I found it to be so melodramatic and convoluted that it was hard to follow the plot or to care about any of the characters. The topic of the national archives interested me but that soon was displaced by the implausibility of the story and the repetitive nature of the dialogue. I finished it but sad to say I did not enjoy it very much.
