Historia
Jim Simons is the greatest money maker in modern financial history. No other investor - Warren Buffett, Peter Lynch, Ray Dalio, Steve Cohen, or George Soros - can touch his record. Since 1988, Renaissance's signature Medallion fund has generated average annual returns of 66 percent. The firm has earned profits of more than $100 billion; Simons is worth 23 billion dollars.

should be subtitled "author's political commentary
Revisado: 09-19-20
Mostly excellent research and information until chapter 14. If you want info on Jim Simons and RenTech, listen to all but Chp 14-15. Mr. Zuckerman (author), nobody cares what you think about politics. Shame on you for inserting two entire chapters espousing your views in a finance biography. We want to hear about Simons and how he "solved the markets" as you titled the book, not a thinly veiled political ax to grind.

Historia
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Have an open mind. She makes great points and I’m so glad I came across her book. I hope she runs for office someday.

This book grew out of a series of letters to my daughter concerning various things - mostly about money and investing - she was not yet quite ready to hear. Since money is the single most powerful tool we have for navigating this complex world we've created, understanding it is critical.

simple but not too simple

First off, the pdf attachment for the audio book is missing multiple items that the audio mentions it has...e.g., the social security website. I can't even remember the others because I didn't make a note because the audio said it was in the pdf! Very annoying.
Other than that, it is a well-thought out, fairly comprehensive book on gaining and keeping financial independence. Definitely recommended. I have advanced degrees in finance and work in finance and agree with almost everything he says. And that is very rare for a personal finance book.

painfully obvious
Revisado: 07-01-20
How to reduce your expenditures: 1) be mindful of your expenses. How to stay busy in retirement: 1) pursue your passions . 2) travel. ... investments have risk. Get out of debt. Save more. Spend less. Don't eat out. Yep...that's about out. If you're the least bit financially literate (and you probably are if you're considering this book and reading this review) then you will be PAINFULLY bored to tears by the obvious truisms and repetition.
