Headtrash: The Leading Killer of Human Potential
Renie Cavallari

I came across this book in coincidently, the exact time in my life that I needed to read it. The author, Renie uses real life, relatable examples as she walks us through her “Own it, Shift it, Dump it” model.

She organized the book into bite size chunks ending each section with a “living it” thought or concept which really helped drive the point home for me. Being that I am more of a visual learner, I really liked that Renie included a few graphics in the book to illustrate the concepts she was teaching. Since reading and listening to the book, doing the extra self reflections (found in her book and on her website), and implementing some of her recommended jumpstart ideas I have noticed the “taking out the trash” process, and connecting to my emotional brain has become easier and easier everyday.

I appreciate that Renie’s book is backed with years of her own research (and others which she credits) to support her model. Lastly, I’d like to acknowledge and appreciate and that she included other great people and the work they are doing to help clear Head Trash. I think it shows that the author genuinely cares about her readers and truly believes in all humans reaching their full potential.
