Historia
Nora Kelly, a young curator at the Santa Fe Institute of Archaeology, is approached by historian Clive Benton with a once-in-a-lifetime proposal: to lead a team in search of the so-called "Lost Camp" of the tragic Donner Party. Benton tells Kelly he has stumbled upon an amazing find: the long-sought diary of one of the victims, which has an enigmatic description of the Lost Camp. Nora agrees to lead an expedition to locate and excavate it-to reveal its long-buried secrets. Once in the mountains, they learn that discovering the camp is only the first step in a mounting journey of fear.

Solid Procedural
Revisado: 05-29-23
I really enjoy procedurals like this. There seems to be good research and historical lessons as well as good characterization. Plenty of clues and action to propel you forward.
Narration was good although she had a hard time with a few of the male characters.
Recommend especially if you’re a fan of these characters and authors.

Lucas Tappan, a wealthy and eccentric billionaire and founder of Icarus Space Systems, approaches the Santa Fe Archaeological Institute with an outlandish proposal—to finance a careful, scientific excavation of the Roswell Incident site, where a UFO is alleged to have crashed in 1947. A skeptical Nora Kelly, to her great annoyance, is tasked with the job.

Mixed Results
Revisado: 05-29-23
Without giving anything away this was a great book up until the last chapters. Then it fell apart pretty quickly. It just became too convoluted and crazy.
Narration is good but some characters are nasally sounding.
Overall. I can’t recommend based on the horrible ending.

Good Supernatural Mystery
Revisado: 05-20-23
I really liked the suspense and mystery in this offering. At first it was hard to figure out what exactly was going on and where it was headed. It ended up being spooky and revealing what this town was going through. The narration was good and the characters were brought to life well.

Historia
Ten years has passed since an infectious virus nearly consumed all of mankind. Millions died, millions more became infected, changed, and turned into mindless, feral hunters bent on the consumption of living flesh. Archer was a solitary man, scavenging what he could to survive off the ruins of the world that no longer existed. A world gone mad, where those who still lived were just as great of threat as those who were infected.

Standard Zombie Fare
Revisado: 05-17-23
Very standard entry. I don’t get the rave reviews. It is well written for the genre. The narration is good but not excellent. Maybe it’s just me. I didn’t care for the plot.

It was always a joke. The what ifs and the planning were just conversations to have fun with. Who would be the first to go? Where would people be safe? Who would survive the zombie apocalypse? No one is laughing anymore. Awakening to a nightmare, Dan Foster is forced to flee his suburban Chicago home. Together with his wife Abby and little girl Katie, they begin a dangerous trek across the wintery Midwest in hopes to reconnect with his brother in the heartland of Wisconsin.

Overrated but still ok. The plot was the usual zombie apocalypse.
Narration was pretty bad though. It was not produced well. It sounded like the narrator was in a tank. As in tank of water.

Historia
This is the way the world ends. Not with a bang but a scream. In the remote mountains of Northern Alaska, Dr. Riley Middleton and her team of archeologists discover a burial site containing mummified remains dating to the last ice age. None of them notice the warning carved into the entrance or realize that the tomb had been deliberately sealed from the outside until they’ve already released a virus that turns ordinary people into murderous monsters. But there’s something even more terrifying inside...something ancient...something unspeakably evil.

Slow Start-Too Much Going On
Revisado: 05-12-23
It starts off really slow and somewhat repetitive but it eventually finds it footing. Also it could have been edited better. It is just too long and full of characters and sub plots that could have benefited from their own books. There are some gory and upsetting parts.
The narration is good although sometimes uneven.
If you’re into dystopian novels then you could do a lot worse.

Great Mystery
Revisado: 05-11-23
This is my first Pendergast novel and I’m hooked. There are several storylines going on all at once but the writing is so great that I was able to follow all of the plot and character developments. The characters are well drawn and interesting. I’m reading the series out of order but so far it hasn’t affected my ability to follow along.
The narration is great and the characters are really brought to life
The pacing is good and everything that happens moves the story forward. Great first read.

Historia
A mummified corpse, over half a century old, is found in the cellar of an abandoned building in a remote New Mexico ghost town. Corrie Swanson is assigned what seems to her a throwaway case: to ID the body and determine cause of death. She brings archaeologist Nora Kelly to excavate the body and lend her expertise to the investigation, and together they uncover something unexpected and shocking: the deceased apparently died in agony, in a fetal position, skin coming off in sheets, with a rictus of horror frozen on his face. Hidden on the corpse lies a 16th-century Spanish gold cross.
