This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, I’m discussing a tender and often overlooked habit many of us carry: over-explaining. In this episode, I explore the psychological roots of this behavior through the lens of the Page of Swords, an archetype that is curious, alert, and sometimes altered by experiences of gaslighting or a lack of conflict resolution. We’ll unpack how early experiences with unresolved conflict or emotional invalidation can lead us to constantly seek clarity, not just for understanding and being understood, but also for safety. I explore how the Page of Swords ...

Being Misunderstood and Dismissed
Revisado: 04-18-25
It was a very personal and honest presentation by Shannon. She referenced many aspects of the causes from her own life and the resultant behavior of growing up in those circumstances. I recognized many of the traits Shannon identified in myself. Particularly the lonely aspect, the rehearsals in the mind, and the need to make sure things are explained fully so you are not misunderstood. There is also a sense of vulnerability here, the preparation of defensive actions to ensure you aren't betrayed 'again'. Listening to this episode gave me pause about my own posturing in life, getting used to being by myself a lot, being a culture of one, and identifying with concepts like self sovereignty as war footing, because you can never trust a human. I listened to this episode twice a few days apart and I am considering getting some therapy, some objective professional opinion and advice. Thank you, Shannon.
Shannon also spoke of children who are put into caring situations at a young age, developmental issues by being thrust into an adult reality early and for sustained periods, and also in relation to caregivers in a broader sense. Though Shannon did not mention it, I feel that this realm of vigilant experience could also include those who are in a co-dependent relationship with a mother, boyfriend, sister etc. From a Tarot perspective, in reference to codependency, the Page of Swords could be seen as an bound attendant holding a syringe, 💉

Fun, Easy Listening, Audible Book on Tarot
Revisado: 05-18-24
Hi Everyone,
This review is of the audible version of the book, but I feel my comments would equally apply to the print or Kindle version. Melissa has written an excellent, easily understandable, and eminently accessible book on how to learn Tarot. I bought the Audible version as I drive around the DC beltway doing important cat rescue duties, and I am an avid Tarot enthusiast, so I felt I would rather try to enhance my Tarot knowledge this way while my hands are busy driving. It was a great decision I feel. In Kitchen Table Tarot, Melissa Cynova is down to earth, funny, swears occasionally and is easy to listen to. It's pretty straightforward stuff on decks, spreads, card meanings, and symbols. She gives lots of personal, funny anecdotes from her life with Tarot too. She makes it simple to understand, and you will get a laugh from her stories! So If you can't actually sit down and read the cards but you are doing an activity where you can listen to something that is light but on topic, then I suggest this may help get you thinking about Tarot, then when you sit down with your deck, you're already warmed up. Think of it as part of the exposure process and the immersion of learning Tarot. The funny thing is some of what Melissa says in the book has stuck with me in interpretations and card relationships when doing readings. I look at some of the cards a little differently now when reading for others, I definitely felt I was channeling Melissa one time when the Ten of Cups came up and I could hear her word, "How long can you stand there waving at a rainbow", so funny! So do yourself a favor and buy Melissa's book, you won't regret it. If you aren't quite sure, you can get the sample and have a listen to the intro. I'm sure you will enjoy those 15 or so pages a lot, and help you decide to buy. There's a lot to be said about being entertained while learning! Thanks Melissa!
Jason ;)
P.S. I recommended Melissa's book to a Tarot friend in NYC this is what she said.
"Hi Jason, I really enjoyed listening to your "Kitchen Table Tarot" audiobook by Melissa Cynova recommendation as I drive in rush hour traffic to and from the city. It is exactly as you described - funny, down to earth and easy to listen to. Thank you!", from Colleen.

The Tarot Blueprint was given to me as a channeled message. Every card in the deck was describing some part of the journey, and it instantly struck me that the tarot isn't just about the fool's journey. The tarot actually covers every aspect of life, like an incredible blueprint of the human journey from cradle to grave! Connecting the tarot with the chakras has never been done quite like this before, and learning the cards from this perspective requires no memorization whatsoever. The meanings of the cards are written as a story, which makes it perfect as an audiobook.

Surprisingly Engaging, A Great Listen!
Revisado: 03-18-23
When I got this book on Audible I really didn't have any expectations, only that it would be a book about tarot and card definitions. It was much more than that. I bought Mati's other book New Age Tarot Spreads 99 Modern Layouts on Kindle unlimited. As I am a tarot reader/student I was looking for a diverse source of spreads to choose and build from. I enjoyed that book! I listen to Tarot books on Audible while I am driving around DC doing important cat rescue duties ... when I saw The Tarot Blueprint by Mati, I immediately bought it (I had a few credits too) and I wasn't disappointed. It could be called a tarot autobiography. Mati not only describes the meanings of the cards, but she associates them with anecdotal episodes from her life. She also relates how tarot is an essential part of her spiritual journey. Her interpretation of the cards has depth, breadth, and are beautifully linked, especially through the Major Arcana. She incorporates simple elements of numerology too. Plus there is a thread throughout the whole book involving the Chakras. A progression, if you will, of energy rising through the lower physical Chakras in the Minor Arcana, Court Cards and lower number Majors, transitioning to the higher spiritual Chakras through the higher number Majors culminating with the World and Crown Chakra illumination. In the later part of this spiritual journey, Mati integrates her personal knowledge of ecstatic tantric sex acts, Kundalini energy, and the explosive sustained merging with Source during the many tantric sex induced orgasms she experienced when achieving spiritual enlightenment. She also makes mention of enjoying endurance love making as woman in her 50s. There are other elements of this book that are rather graphic. The abuse she received in various forms, many times throughout her life, including one where a gun was pointed at her face by her husband (now ex). Which she added only made her stronger spiritually. Mati mentions many spiritual aspects that some would find 'out there' with a straight arm; channeling, Atlantis, ancient Egypt, alien abductions, near death experiences, studying with the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (Osho) in Oregon, as well as raising her children through four marriages. All these episodes added to my fascination and continued interest in reading/listening to what I thought was going to be just another tarot 'how to' book, which it is certainly not. Even without the tarot, this book is a fascinating read. If you have ever wondered about walk ins and who they might be, well Mati might very well be one of those amongst us. Again, tarot aside, this is a great autobiographical reveal of a person walking her authentic spiritual path on Earth, and you might just learn a good deal about tarot from another perspective!
Oh, and Mati does a great job delivering the Audible listening version herself. It was really wonderful hearing the author's own voice telling her own story. It was really well presented and easy to listen to. So do yourself a favor, if you are interested in tarot and you like an engaging story that is more than a little out of the ordinary, this just might be a good listen on a long boring commute!
Thanks for reading this review!
Jason
P.S. I also bought this book on Kindle unlimited.
P.P.S Mati has a line of skin care products on Etsy. Not that I'm pushing her stuff but her bio over there is worth a read too, Green Beauty Cosmetics
This is her tarot site, tarotreading4love com

From Abby Ellin's first date with the commander, she was caught up in a whirlwind. Within six months, he'd proposed and they'd moved in together. But soon, his exotic stories of international espionage began to unravel. Finally, it all became clear: He was lying about who he was. After leaving him and sharing her story, she was floored to find out that her experience was far from unique. People everywhere, many of them otherwise sharp-witted and self-aware, are being deceived by their loved ones every day.

I originally bought this book on kindle after hearing Abby being interviewed in 2019. I read half of then put it down due to life's distractions. I recently bought the audible version and really loved listening to it while driving around DC delivering cats. There is so much that I recognized and could identify with
