Historia
Each story in the Zoey and Sassafras series features a new magical animal with a problem that must be solved using science. There isn’t a set formula for each book; Zoey sometimes needs to run experiments, while other times she needs to investigate a mystery, and yet other times she needs to do research. Zoey models how to keep a science journal through her handwritten entries in each story. Each story is complete with a glossary of the kid-friendly definitions for scientific terms used.

Different narration
Revisado: 05-04-24
Narrator uses a slightly different style and it was hard to get into the story as a result. Zoey’s voice is calmer and lower pitched. So it kept registering as another character speaking and was confusing for me and my kid.

Outdated, and quite frankly, dickish.
Revisado: 07-20-21
There is so much fluff to this book and little substance that actually has to do with the first days/weeks of school.
Their discipline examples are condescending, they have some rather sexist remarks, and their privilege is definitely showing.
Honestly this book has been more helpful by allowing me to reflect on why I disagree with them, and what I would do as a result.
