Historia
Detroit ex-cop August Snow puts his life on the line to protect a friend from modern-day Templars sworn to protect the name of the Catholic church at all costs. Father Michael Grabowski, a Franciscan priest who has tended the spiritual needs of Detroit’s Mexicantown for forty years, has suddenly retired. August Snow, who has known the priest his whole life, finds the circumstances troubling—especially in light of the recent suspicious suicide of another local priest. What dark history is Father Grabowski hiding?

Believable characters, my home town!
Revisado: 12-20-23
Loved this latest installment of the world of August Snow. While reading previous books is not a prerequisite, it really helps to have read the first three books to have a complete background. I would recommend those books to readers as well. I first read this series in a book club, and I am so glad to have started the series.

Historia
Samantha Irby’s career has taken her to new heights. She dodges calls from Hollywood and flop sweats on the red carpet at premieres (well, one premiere). But nothing is ever as it seems online, where she can crop out all the ugly parts. Irby got a lot of weird emails about Carrie Bradshaw, and not only is there diarrhea to avoid, but now—anaphylactic shock. She is turned away from restaurants for being inappropriately dressed and looks for the best ways to cope, i.e., reveling in the offerings of QVC and adopting a deranged pandemic dog.

Extremely disappointed
Revisado: 07-20-23
After all the hype, I was very disappointed and am returning this book. I only made it part way through and was disgusted by the descriptions of sexual encounters that involved urinating on her partner. Not for me at all!

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

Fascinating and timely!
Revisado: 07-31-20
As a reader, the fascinating story of the library project made me realize just how lucky I am to have a library that I can visit and books that I can get without any trouble at all. As a science teacher, the description of the blue people of Kentucky was an excellent example of recessive genetics. The author’s description of the effects of poverty, repression and prejudice towards people of color during the 1930’s in Kentucky is unfortunately still true in far too many places throughout the world today. I highly recommend this book!

First in Series
Revisado: 03-09-19
This book is the first book in the series by Patricia Briggs, my favorite author. I’ve read all of her books, but listening to this one opened up a whole new experience. Listening slows everything down enough to process and pick up details that I missed the first time. Listening to “Moon Called” reminded me that later events in the series were already planned by this brilliant author! Loved the narration by Lorelei Kin, too!

Loved this collection even more on audible
Revisado: 07-15-15
I already owned and read the collection of stories by Patricia Biggs, but enjoyed the performances even more. There were many new stories, as well as out takes from some of her books. I particularly enjoyed Warren's story: the reader was excellent, right down to Warren's drawl. This makes me want to try audible for other books by Patricia Briggs. I love to listen when I don't have time to read!
