Memory is the greatest challenge to learning a foreign language; there are just too many words and too many rules. For every new word we learn, we seem to forget two old ones, making fluency seem out of reach. Fluent Forever tackles this challenge head-on. Starting with pronunciation, you'll learn how to rewire your ears and turn foreign sounds into familiar sounds.

thorough guidelines
Revisado: 06-02-24
Mine is a language experince of intermediate competence in German from schooling and exchange student year some 38 years ago, ...so feeling pretty darned rusty. Plus I have had very introductory college instruction in beginning Spanish and beginning French and have continued to dabble a bit in Spanish self-study, but not French....and I live in Louisiana.
I have felt torn between desire to immerse myself fully in German study for a hopefully full command eventually, vs realization that Spanish is far more useful in the U.S.
This book gives the reader a lot to think about, both motivating and encouraging, with helpful direction for strategy.

Fun period coming-of-age romance adventure.
Revisado: 10-07-23
I like happy endings when it comes to romance stories. Without being too perfect in that regard, this one does not disappoint. The latter part of the plot is a little predictable but still enjoyable.
I want to give the narrator extra orops for the way he differentiated each character with his voicings. first rate job.

Loved it! silly, irreverent, occasionally poignant.
Don't "read" it without first watching a bunch of his you tubes creations, but that should go without saying.

Excellent, albeit admittedly a bug geek's delight.
Revisado: 07-18-21
very important information for our ecological future, and a possible cure to the homeowner attitude that all oaks are good for is making a mess of fallen leaves. My only reason for knocking off one star from "perfect" is a purely subjective one. This book seems as much about i sects as about oaks, not surprising given Tallamy's etymology credentials. I very much recommend to anyone not familiar with Douglas Tallamy to do a simple you tube search, then consider one of his excellent works: "Bringing Nature Home" and/or "Nature's Best Hope: A New Approach to Conservation That Starts In You Yard."

An Environmental Call to Arms!
Revisado: 07-10-21
Very informative, even as it makes an emotional appeal to stop poisoning our very homes. Most disturbing yet important is the analysis of HOAs and governmental assaults on our freedom to choose to live more ecologically responsibly. They literally legally imposed environmental destruction, and that heavy-handed "Big Brother" has only gotten worse in recent years.

self-narrated, the author has a quirky delivery style you may or may not enjoy. this is partly a how-to instruction guide, partly musings on the excesses and downfall of civilization.

more philosophy of gardening than a "how-to" man
Revisado: 10-20-19
Listened to over a course of weekends as I tended my own developing garden, I found this a be a thoughtful invitation to consider gardening in a new way unfamiliar to many Americans, neither merely as a responsible, "moral" means of food production, nor as ornamentation with which to impress passers-by; neither as an omage to the elusive notion of supposedly pristine, mythically unchanging "nature." Instead, the author advocated a fourth way somehow acknowledging the roll the previous approaches have to play but freeing the gardener from any rigid notion of orthodox rules.
Most of all, I appreciated the author's historical survey narrative on the world of garden landscapes.
