Historia
I’m just so exhausted—always living on the edge of desperation, one paycheck away from ruin. But this new job… It could be the fresh start I need. It could change everything. The contract is only for three months, but if I keep my head down, work hard, and prove myself, maybe I could stay longer. Maybe I could make Black Mountain Lodge my home. As I pull down the gravel drive, surrounded by the forest and mountains and bright blue skies, I feel something I haven’t felt in a while. I feel hope.

Just meh.
Revisado: 03-30-25
I wanted to like this book. And I don’t hate it. But it’s just meh. I love SJ Tilly’s romantic comedies the Sleet series, and the Love Letter series are some of my favorites. But this one just lacked the wit and humor of those books. The characters were fine. Nothing stands out though. Also, the length and sheer number of chapters was really annoying on audiobook. Some chapters are only 20 seconds long and it goes up to almost 200 chapters. The announcement of another chapter broke up the rhythm of the banter. That may be why I found it so blah. I couldn’t get into it because it was constantly being interrupted by the announcement of the next chapter. Overall, the book is fine, but not memorable.

Too long
Revisado: 03-13-25
I’m all for a slow burn, but in the first half of the book virtually nothing happens. And then, in the last third of the book, the characters just completely get careless and do stupid things. I found Bridget to be kind of bratty and Rhys to be overbearing. It was a struggle to get through this one. Narration was fine, although the accent of the princess was uneven. The male narrator did an accent for her, but the female narrator read without an accent. I’m not sure if I’m gonna finish the series

Historia
Aiden Valentine has a secret: he’s fallen out of love with love. And as the host of Baltimore’s romance hotline, that’s a bit of a problem. But when a young girl calls in to the station asking for dating advice for her mom, the interview goes viral, thrusting Aiden and Heartstrings into the limelight. Lucie Stone thought she was doing just fine. She has a good job; an incredible family; and a smart, slightly devious kid. But when all of Baltimore is suddenly scrutinizing her love life—or lack thereof—she begins to question if she’s as happy as she believed.

Male narrator miscast
Revisado: 02-19-25
First, I loved the book! It’s a slow burn which allows the characters to develop. The unique family dynamic was heartwarming and the banter was great. However the male narrator was miscast. His performance was good but his voice does not match the description of the MMC - and considering the MMC’s job is a radio host, the voice had to be just right. And his voice was not the deep sensuous voice described. At all. Nevertheless, the performances by both narrators was good.

Doctor Fionn Kane is running from a broken heart, one he hopes to mend in small-town Nebraska, far away from his almost-fiancé and his derailed surgical career. It’s a simpler life: head down, hard work, and absolutely no romantic relationships. He wants none of the circus he left behind in Boston.

Sad it’s over
Revisado: 02-13-25
I liked this book though not as much as the first two. The protagonists spent too much time apart- I’d have liked more relationship development and banter. But in keeping with the previous books, the outrageous humor and scenarios they get in kept me riveted. However I thought Rose’s recklessness was just stupid and lacking common sense sometimes. She had time to think through some of her bad decisions and boy does she make bad decisions- even if it is for the greater good. The narration was great and overall I liked it

Historia
As a scruffy, disorganised daydreamer, Lucy Mayweather is like a fish out of water at the high-powered offices of her brother’s billionaire best friend. When she agreed to work for Felix, she had no idea quite how cut-throat his world–or he–would be. She just wanted to escape her reclusive life and be close to her childhood crush, hoping he might notice her. But Lucy’s lonelier in London than she’s even been in her tiny village back home.

It took a minute
Revisado: 02-05-25
I have to say that at the beginning of this book, I found Lucy to be insufferably hopelessly, helpless, which was annoying. The girl can’t even walk. And I get not fitting in a cutthroat work environment, but there were times she didn’t even understand basic rules of socialization. However, as the book continued, and you see her confidence in other areas grow, I began to really like her, and while Felix was also pretty insufferable in the beginning, his yearning for Lucy was really heartfelt. And the abuse that Lucy suffered and his response to it was really touching. Eventually, I did didn’t want the book to end. I love these characters even though I didn’t relate to them very much.

What does one do when they completely blow an interview? If you're me, you pick up a one-night stand with the most gorgeous man you've ever seen.. That's right, after a lousy interview that could have changed everything for me, I headed over to the local small town bar to sulk when the one man I shouldn't want walked in. And when my friend convinced me to take him back to my hotel room, I didn't think about it, I just did it . . . well, I did him.

More plot less spice
Revisado: 01-29-25
I thought the chemistry between the characters was great but they relied too much on sex over substance especially in the beginning. For the length of this book I expected more plot. The banter was fun and witty but overall it just never got more interesting. It was good but not memorable

My dad abandoned me as a baby. My mom just kicked me out. Oh, and I can’t stand hockey. It’s shocking how many drunken secrets Dane Sinclair fleeces from me the night we meet. It’s supposed to be a one-night stand. No numbers. No strings attached. A release we both desperately need. Neither of us expect to come face-to-face again on my first day working for the Redville Saints. Dane thinks I targeted him. That I seduced him, knowing he’s their star enforcer.

Meh.
Revisado: 01-24-25
The FMC was very immature and her constant avoidance of anything remotely difficult was grating. And I understand her relationship with her mother was difficult - but she said the woman worked 80 hours a week and still made time for a date night with her daughter. She wasn’t out partying or dating a lot of men. She was working. So I get her kicking out her 22 yo freeloader daughter who wouldn’t even get a waitressing job or something while looking to start a career. The MMC was okay if a little bland and I really didn’t care for the male narrator’s female voice - every thing sounded like a sneer in his female voice. All in all it was just meh.

Let me tell the story of how I fell in love with a woman who had no idea that we were even dating. The ridiculousness started when she stole my beer, and trust me, my grumpy self doesn’t normally share. But somehow, Avery Wilson is the exception to every one of my many rules. Unfortunately, I’m not hers. Not only is she the daughter of the Rev’s coach who hates me, she’s also sworn off dating for the year.

Sweet Golden Retriever disguised as a Doberman
Revisado: 01-18-25
The MMC was pretty great throughout the entire book except close to the end. Suddenly he’s an idiot. The FMC is so clueless and unaware it gets annoying. He makes several grand (life changing wonderful) gestures and she’s still not convinced he has feelings for her. Was waiting for brick house to fall on her head. And the female narrators laugh was so cringe and forced it irked me like nails on a chalkboard. Overall a nice fun read but could have been about 2 hours shorter if MMC AND FMC simply talked

Historia
Winnifred "Win" McNulty has always been wildly independent. Not one to be coddled for her limb difference, Win has spent most of her life trying to prove that she can do it all on her own. And, with some minor adjustments, she's done just fine. That is until she has a one-night stand with the incredibly charming Bo, a perfect stranger. And that one night changes everything. While Bo is surprisingly elated to step up to the plate, Win finds herself unsure of whether she can handle this new challenge on her own or if she'll need a helping hand.

I don't even know if love is real. After running from the bastard who brutalized me, I limped back to Arizona, choosing a vibrant college town in the hopes of starting over. I never expected to find him there. Cord Gentry. He and his brothers were tough, lusty forces of nature I'd known since childhood. Years ago Cord seduced me as a sick game. I've hated him ever since. Now here he is again, a man who beats other men bloody for money.

Meh
Revisado: 12-29-24
Not a fan of the bully trope. And the plot was super thin. I think she forgave him way too quickly. There should have been a lot more hurdles to forgiveness than him doing the bare minimum a decent person would do if they came across a person they’ve known their entire lives who was literally beaten and homeless. Just a really thin plot
