The exercises chapter is where the gold is. It’s already helping my chronic low back pain of over 10 years, but a PDF or other visual would make this the best book on back pain in Audible

Historia
The authors devoted five decades to the study of world history and philosophy, culminating in the masterful 11-volume Story of Civilization. In this compact summation of their work, Will and Ariel Durant share the vital and profound lessons of our collective past. Their perspective, gained after a lifetime of thinking and writing about the history of humankind, is an invaluable resource for us today.

Fascinating
Revisado: 05-29-23
History feels more and more like a breath of fresh air in these strange times. I loved how deep Durant went with his studies and the gift he gives of extracting lessons from all his well researched knowledge. Although this probably won’t help you pass a world history exam (for that read his series book by book), but this does provide some affirmation of what modern America is getting right and wrong and what could ultimately lead to its demise. Thanks for the recommendation Elon Musk!

Historia
Before Owen Michaels disappears, he smuggles a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect her. Despite her confusion and fear, Hannah Hall knows exactly to whom the note refers—Owen’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Bailey. Bailey, who lost her mother tragically as a child. Bailey, who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new stepmother. As Hannah’s increasingly desperate calls to Owen go unanswered, as the FBI arrests Owen’s boss, as a US marshal and federal agents arrive at her Sausalito home unannounced, Hannah quickly realizes her husband isn’t who he said he was.

Couldn’t put it down
Revisado: 01-18-23
No spoilers. I loved the premise (sudden disappearance of a husband and father. Cryptic messages. A load of cash) but didn’t like the ending.

Historia
Plenty of experts argue that anyone who wants to develop a skill, play an instrument, or lead their field should start early, focus intensely, and rack up as many hours of deliberate practice as possible. But a closer look at research on the world’s top performers shows that early specialization is the exception, not the rule. David Epstein examined the world’s most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields—especially those that are complex and unpredictable—generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel.

One sentence message: “don’t feel behind”
Revisado: 02-15-20
I liked how the author used so many real world examples and studies to tie back to his somewhat controversial thesis. It was like downloading support and evidence into my brain on how to think for myself when confronted with the pressure to hyper specialize in a field.
The only thing I can think of that I disliked was the narrator, who wasn’t awful, but ironically did not output the most “range” of tone, pitch, speed, etc. to his voice.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a better approach to a career or hobby than the normalized path of proverbial fences and stepping stones laid out for you without your input.
Ironically, this book has a “head start” (I.e. - Tiger Woods approach) on being my favorite book of 2020.
