Historia
On The Power of Vulnerability, Dr. Brown offers an invitation and a promise - that when we dare to drop the armor that protects us from feeling vulnerable, we open ourselves to the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives. Here she dispels the cultural myth that vulnerability is weakness and reveals that it is, in truth, our most accurate measure of courage.

Outstanding and a Must Hear
Revisado: 03-29-24
There were so many parts of this book that I had to rewind and review because they hit home hard. She shines a light on the parts of ourselves that we are holding us back, and if we just took the time to shine a flashlight on it, we might make the choice to change. I highly recommend this book to people regularly. My sister recommended it to me and I’m so glad she did. My life is better because of this book. I make better decisions and I’m living more authentically. I’m a better parent. I’m a better daughter a better wife and I’m a better friend because of this book.

Historia
East Antarctica: the coldest, most desolate location on earth. Two-and-a-half miles below the ice cap is Vostok, a 6,000 square mile liquid lake, over 1,000 feet deep, left untouched for more than 15 million years. Now, marine biologist Zachary Wallace and two other scientists aboard a submersible tethered to a laser will journey 13,000 feet beneath the ice into this unexplored realm to discover Mesozoic life-forms long believed extinct - and an object of immense power responsible for the evolution of modern man.

Brutally Slow. Do not recommend
Revisado: 11-26-22
I thought I would give this a try based on a recommendation, however, I couldn’t even make it all the way through it. It was brutally boring. I kept waiting for the story to pick up and by chapter 16 and it just didn’t. The narrator does a fine job with the accents, that’s not the problem, the story just fails to ever pick up. It seems like the author put way too much emphasis on making readers want to know whether or not the lead character is going to have an affair on his wife more so than the other archaeological content which is actually what I was looking for. From an archaeology buff standpoint, this book left me sorely disappointed even though I knew it was fiction.
Unsurprisingly, I fell asleep to this playing two times. Unfortunately I was listening to this as I was working so one of the two times was actually while I was working. It was really that boring.
Considering I like the subject matter, I was really hoping this would be a great book and was sadly disappointed.

Historia
This popular examination of research into children's reports of past-life memories describes a collection of 2,500 cases at the University of Virginia that investigators have carefully studied since Dr. Ian Stevenson began the work more than 40 years ago. The children usually begin talking about a past life at the age of two or three and may talk about a previous family or the way they died in a previous life. Their statements have often been found to be accurate for one particular deceased individual, and some children have recognized members of the previous family.

A Thorough & Current Deep Dive on Topic
Revisado: 10-24-22
“Life Before Life” gives a thorough and in-depth deep dive regarding the topic of children who report possible past lives or possible past life information to be further studied. This book gives detailed analysis on the studies that Dr. Tucker and his team have analyzed. Although there are a few of the paragraphs in chapters that go over my head as a lay person, the majority the information was easily digestible for the listener, and can be confirmed by cross referencing Dr. Tucker and his team’s data. This book is the most up-to-date and helpful resource for parents whose children might be beginning to mention the possibility of a past life. It does cover the topic thoroughly from all angles, which I highly appreciated. The narrator keepsake fine pace, flow and volume throughout the audiobook, keeping it interesting to the listener consistently. With a very busy schedule, I appreciated this book being available in an audio format.

Historia
A first-person account of Jim Tucker's experiences with a number of extraordinary children with memories of past lives, Return to Life focuses mostly on American cases, presenting each family's story and describing his investigation. His goal is to determine what happened-what the child has said, how the parents have reacted, whether the child's statements match the life of a particular deceased person, and whether the child could have learned such information through normal means.

Broadens the View of Past Life Studies
Revisado: 10-18-22
This book is well written, and the beginning is captivating. The end of this brief audiobook progresses swiftly to guide the listener into new studies in consciousness and reality via quantum physics that have not been previously considered. It forces the listener to critically think independently outside their comfort level by looping in the new studies regarding quantum consciousness. Some people are ready to explore this territory, and others are not. If you’re open minded this is a great book for you. It guides the reader through the research pioneers in this field such as Dr. Tucker and Ian Stephenson, and then ties in newer scientific finds regarding fascinating developments in science as it pertains to the universe. The final chapter marries the two concepts well. The narrator does a fine job. With my busy work schedule I was happy to find this book on audible.

Historia
In 1994 Professor Bryan Sykes, a leading world authority on DNA and human evolution, was called in to examine the frozen remains of a man trapped in glacial ice in northern Italy. News of both the Ice Man's discovery and his age, which was put at over 5,000 years, fascinated scientists and newspapers throughout the world. But what made Sykes's story particularly revelatory was his successful identification of a genetic descendant of the Ice Man, a woman living in Great Britain today. How was Sykes able to locate a living relative?

Do NOT Pass This Book Over! Simply Amazing.
Revisado: 08-08-19
This book is well narrated by the characters in the accents that set the stage for the south. You get to feel see and experience each character as the author intended. I've wanted to read this book for years and haven't had the time or opportunity to do so because of "life". How wonderful it is that this book is on audible and is narrated so well that even the busiest of book lovers can dive into this book. This is one of those stories that lingers with you way beyond the final chapter. It's a favorite "go to" that will be picked up many times over, like your favorite sweater.

A Captivating Quick Read. Humorous Narration
Revisado: 08-08-19
If you're a history buff looking for a quick yet captivating read, this is your audiobook. The narrator keeps the plot and its twists interesting, lists his sources, and doesn't deviate much from the storyline. His voice is pleasant for narration, and he has a good sense of humor to keep the listener engaged throughout the book.

Historia
Without John C. Houbolt, a mid-level engineer at NASA, Apollo 11 would never have made it to the moon. Top NASA engineers on the project, including Werner Von Braun, strongly advocated for a single, huge spacecraft to travel to the moon, land, and return to Earth. It's the scenario used in 1950s cartoons and horror movies about traveling to outer space. Houbolt had another idea: Lunar Orbit Rendezvous. LOR would link two spacecraft in orbit while the crafts were travelling at 3,600 miles an hour around the moon. His plan was ridiculed and considered unthinkable.

It was a delight to hear that Werner Von Braun publicly acknowledged John Houbolt for LOR in the Mission Operation Control Room in building 30 at the Johnson Space Center after the first LOR occurred! I was within walking distance and didn’t know that was happening at the time! It brought tears to my eyes! - James Davis, former IBM/NASA employee.

Dale Maharidge’s father, like many World War II veterans, never talked about “the good war”. There was just one clue to his dad’s experience as a US Marine - a portrait with a close friend that hung permanently in their home. In The Dead Drink First, Dale, now a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, recounts his 18-year quest to find and repatriate the missing remains of his dad’s buddy, Herman Walter Mulligan, 73 years after he was killed in action.

A riveting and unparalleled journey. Must read.
Revisado: 07-11-19
A riveting and unparalleled journey that began with a father with many battle wounds and scars which ran deep (both emotionally and physically); completed full circle by a son whose forgiveness brings closure to a myriad of people.
This book is not one I would ordinarily select, but was in the monthly free section, so I took a chance. This thorough (but not too thorough) journey takes the reader from start to finish on healing a lifetime of grief from a frightening childhood to look past his father’s rage to find the root cause, and heal it post mortem. In doing so to brings closure to his brother and himself, he also brings closure to the family of the friend his father left behind. This book is about healing and the journey, is worth the distance for the redemption it rains down on those left behind. I cried. We all have our own Mulligan. Finish to the end and bring Mulligan home for burial, it’s worth it, and you’ll be glad you did.

The award-winning author of The Eichmann Trial and Denial: Holocaust History on Trial gives us a penetrating and provocative analysis of the hate that will not die, focusing on its current, virulent incarnations on both the political right and left: from white supremacist demonstrators in Charlottesville, Virginia, to mainstream enablers of antisemitism such as Donald Trump and Jeremy Corbyn, to a gay pride march in Chicago that expelled a group of women for carrying a Star of David banner.

Perfect for the College Student or Professor
Revisado: 06-24-19
I was disappointed this wasn't in the same genre I had hoped, as the author's other book "Denial" had left me unable to put the book down, as I devoured it in one sitting. This book is positively perfect for the college student or professor who is in the current on campus setting vividly described in the entirety of the book; however this isn't a good book for a mom's coffee club or book club. As usual, Lipstadt is on point in her narrative, however I was hoping for more every day familial instances. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
