It repeats itself over 8 times. It tells you what you probably already know which is “use booking software” and “advertise on social media” with zero specificity. Read this review 5 times and you will have saved an hour listening to this title.

Very few errors. Definitely recommend.

The only 2 negatives I have about this is the heavy focus on urban areas and specifically New York (not a big deal, though), and the part on the legal structures. He is mostly correct from an accounting standpoint, but I would 100% recommended you seek a legal professional when it comes to the entity you choose. His knowledge of s-corps and LLCs was lacking from a legal position quite a bit. As long as you go into this book understanding that last part, then I highly recommend this book for restaurants owners and soon to be owners.

Diversity

With everything going on the in the news And country, I still don’t agree that most companies should hire with the goal of diversity, but I do like that this book points out that sometimes the root causes of a lack of diversity isn’t because companies aren’t seeking diversity, but because the pool of people to choose from may not be very diverse. I was also impressed to see that women acknowledging their own potential biases were able to put them aside when reviewing why Harvard promoted mostly male candidates and discovered the root cause is that the women at the time were not submitting as many publications because they were waiting for perfection. Overall, great book and no regrets in purchasing.

I’d file jointly with this chick. On a serious note, this book was great. I love tax professionals that give advice without being afraid of the IRS. Fear based accountants shouldn’t be allowed to advise anyone.

Annoyingly correct

There’s a lot of good information and guidelines here. My favorite concept was probably the story about his daughter cleaning their toilets. She did it with the intention of getting it done (checking the box) instead of doing it to achieve a goal with substance. I also think it’s important not to avoid conflict. Don’t be afraid of getting fired, but don’t try to get fired either.

Limited mind frame

Definitely covers some of the basics, but also provides false information, such as "diversification is the best way to invest" and "your house is an asset". Though I did learn a few things, I would recommend people new to investing not to take his opinions to heart, but still listen to the unbiased information.
