Witty and funny comfort book

As always, Max Monroe writes charming and endearing characters who leave you smiling throughout your engagement with them. “Cute” in the best of ways. Don’t expect fireworks, but do expect amazing banter. Tropes and plot are predictable but done so well that there’s still something fresh all the same. I absolutely love these two narrators together when preforming dual narration. Though, like most, I prefer duet, the register of their voices when preforming the opposite sex works so well together.

Excellent. We get to see both grow individually and together. (You must listen or read broken dolls first.) The give and take; the passion for all of life and the other is building. On to the second, but where are the other three novellas?

It was average

I loved the first book and had such high hopes for this one, but it just fell short for me. Gets somewhat interesting at the end, and it is an enjoyable read to have on in the background, but nothing kept my full attention. If I spaced for 20 min,, I didn’t go back. I would still purchase again because I listen to audiobooks more than one probably should, and it’s nice to have something you can just listen to without having to “listen” to.

Wonderful Narration and Captivating Story

I was extremely impressed with the performance of both narrators. I’ve had a few exposures to Walker Williams, but I’d say Jagger’s work suits him best. This was my first time listening the Emily Erickson, and I’m happy to have found her as a narrator (happier, still, to know she and Williams will perform additional installments of this series). Though I love duet narration, she did very well with her adoption of male vocals. The overall style of Jagger’s writing is refreshing. The dry, witty, and sometimes dark comedy is amazing. There are also multiple layers to the dialogue and inner narratives, so much so that you get more depth and more story than a majority of novels in the genre/category. The story was dynamic and well balanced and not predictable. And the characters: outstanding, relatable, and fiery. Strong MCs and the teasers of secondary/supportive roles has me excited to immerse myself in their stories. This one goes into my Favorites file, and I’ll be following Jagger’s work moving forward.

Story & Performance awesome; story, slow

Running notes: I’m 5.5 hours in. I like the overall story trope/s and character development, although predictable, but I’ve been board for an hour and I’m struggling to continue. There’s been little movement for 2 hours.

Positive Daddy Kink; Needed Audio Edits

This text provides a healthy representation of Daddy Dom kink. There is an age gap (35 years), but this text is not about age play. This is a respectful and just model of the DDLG relationship.

The story is uniquely predictable, meaning there are some new approaches to a common trope, but the storyline is predictable after the promoting.

I had a difficult time rating the performance. The male narrator was not the best suited for female dialogue, but he was a great fit for the MMC. His voice sounded like the “right” age—not too young or too old—just right. That said, the post-audio editing could be better. The female narrator’s rhythms are much slower than the male’s. This means that you are not able to speed the audio without having to actively toggle speeds between MMC and MFC chapters.

Too little MMC/Kydd

While I an enjoyed the story and the FMC is dynamic & narrated well, there is very little MMC POV or Kydd-preformed dialogue—only comes in after 11 hours and, even still, for just ~30 min.

Perfect for praise, alphapup (some daddy) kink

Story and narration=perfection! Very sexy and equally swoony. I hope the next book(s) in this series will be released soon. Standalone.

All the round lacking

This title doesn’t even make my so-so list. The narration was without effort. Reading “aloud” in my own head would have been better. Started in the first hour with potential to have a good plot, but then it just went to uninteresting sex. If you’re looking for a well-rounded small town, steamy experience, I’d recommend A.L. Jackson’s Fight for Me collection.

Repetitive dialogue & paint-drying slow

I’ve listened to many titles in this genre—a lot! There’s never been a title that I’ve had to fast forward. I was stubborn and felt a need to finish, but it was sooo boring that I skipped ahead often. Half a chapter here and there once I got 7 hours in. I actually spent time while listening searching for a good next listen. I guess you could say it was spicy because they were together, but even the spice was mild. Both narrators were good, but they were not good together. If you’re looking for something that you can listen to even when talking with someone or working, then this title will work….because there’s no real investment to be had.
