Overall this book was just ridiculous. For adults, they were so immature. They stayed in the same hotel room for a week and told their friends how they felt - not each other. Then when they finally get together it’s a manufactured reason that they split up for 8 months. Again, adults could have overcome the “adversity”. Then there’s the constant use of the F word. Why? Surely there’s another adjective the author could use.
After 4 books in the baseball series, the author has stuck to the formula of meet, pretend not to like, get together, adversity, long periods of time apart and reunite. So, I don’t feel the need to purchase anymore from this author.
As far as the narration goes, I cringed every time the female said “Natalie”. I may have disliked the female character a little less if not for this narrator. The male narrator did a good job. Just wish he’d had better material to read, but this is just one person’s opinion.

This is my first time listening to a book by this author, and will be the last. I listened to all three of the Virgin Diaries and was amazed at the fact these girls who were virgins into their twenties meet a guy and within a conversation or two are already getting sexual. The stories lacked substance, a ten year old could figure out the “bad guy” easily. The heroes fall deeply in love almost instantly. Everything happened fast, and I’ve never read so many “foul” words it just “dumbed down” the story.
As far as the narrators, the female was fine, but the male was awful. At first, I thought I was going to enjoy his deep voice, but when he changed his voice for other characters it was painful. He made older people sound slow and stupid, females sound flighty and other young men sound giddy. I looked forward to the female parts, which isn’t normal for me as I normally prefer the male’s portion better, but I always needed to give my ears a rest after listening to the guy read.
I’m sure others enjoy this author just fine, but I need more to the books I read. Authors like Sylvia Day who can write an erotic romance and have there be more to the story than sex and the sex scenes are written so much classier.
Sorry, but this is just a no for me.

The story was good, it has a great hero, but the narration made the female lead seem snottty because that's how she Sounds. Probably won't listen to the follow up books if the same person narrates.

I'm not going to give a summary, you can read others, but I have to say I've rarely read/listened to a book where I've disliked a character more. Save your money.

the story was ok., a lot of silliness, but easy enough to follow. The voice of Alex, a 6 foot 3 220 pound hockey player, sounded like 14 year old boy whose voice was just changing. For the price, it's entertaining enough.

The story is very unbelievable. there's no emotional connection to either character. Worse than the plot are the accents of the performers, especially the female lead. To be honest, it was difficult to ascertain the females race. Although this book is inexpensive, I still paid too much.

I enjoyed some aspects of this story, but the heroine made no sense. She's supposed to be so strong and "in your face", yet she didn't confront the hero with rumors and just left him. Then we have a narrator who scoffs and laughingly talks through so much of the book, it made it hard to feel anything but disdain for almost all the characters. there are some interesting people and events, it's worth being a summer read/listen.

What did you love best about Bright Side?

I loved the way Kate looked at life and the way she talked to people. I loved that even though it was a sad story, there was so much laughter.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I adored every character, but Kate and Gus were unbelievable.

What about Roger Wayne and Lidia Dornet ’s performance did you like?

I've never heard a woman's narration as spot on as Lidia. She made Kate sound so real, dude. Roger's narration was also good, but when he was talking as Keller - I got goosebumps.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh, it made me mad, and it made me ugly cry.

Any additional comments?

I've had to re-listen to this book because I couldn't hear over my own blubbering. Beautiful story. I wish there were more people in the world like Bright Side.

Would you consider the audio edition of Black Dawn to be better than the print version?

NO, I always prefer the written word, but I enjoyed listening to the story after having read it years ago.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I loved listening to the previous narrator, Cynthia Holloway. So, this new lady, Angela Dawes, was really hard to hear. She did detract from the book. Holloway had Claire sounding like the young, college girl she was. Dawes, ages and jaded Claire way beyond what the actual time frame of the book did.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Sure
