Historia
Folks in Moab live for ice cream socials, baseball, and the local paper’s weekly gossip column. Sheriff Winston Browne has watched over Moab with a generous eye for a decade, and by now he’s used to handling the daily dramas that keep life interesting for Moab’s quirky residents. But just after Winston receives some terrible, life-altering news, a seemingly mute runaway with no clear origin arrives in Moab. The residents do what they believe is right and take her in - until two suspicious strangers arrive and begin looking for her.

Wonderful story

It's all about life, love, and what's most important. Narration fit the character perfectly. There is nothing to disappoint here.

Not worth it
Revisado: 06-15-24
Finished this only because I wanted to know how the paradoxes would be resolved. The ending was as disappointing as the overall storyline. Convoluted and completely unbelievable, the author needed to discipline his imagination.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Outstanding

I don't remember the last time I read a book that I didn't want to end. There is nothing but wonder about this story and I found myself rationing the pages as it came closer to an end. Yet, in a very real way, the story has no end. Thank you.

Historia
After more than a decade, when sisters Nikki, Sami, and Tori Knotek hear the word mom, it claws like an eagle’s talons, triggering memories that have been their secret since childhood. Until now. For years, behind the closed doors of their farmhouse in Raymond, Washington, their sadistic mother, Shelly, subjected her girls to unimaginable abuse, degradation, torture, and psychic terrors. Through it all, Nikki, Sami, and Tori developed a defiant bond that made them far less vulnerable than Shelly imagined.

Revisado: 07-09-20
Excellent narration brings this horror story to life.
Appalling, inconceivable, unspeakable, the book tantalizes the listener (or reader) into continuing this probe into the mind of a sadistic killer and her victim accomplices. At times I shifted from listening to reading in order to mute and control the absorption of some details. Thought many times about Hitler and his underlings and the psychological seduction of pure evil. I am not a believer in capital punishment, but this woman is scheduled for release in 2022, so God help us all. She should never be unleashed into society.
