I have a desire to have necessary and difficult conversations. But I don’t always know how to start them. My brilliant friend and colleague David Harris helped and guided me. My goal is that this podcast helps others start those uncomfortable conversations that need to be had right now for us all to move forward. The guest is ignorant about white experiences
Revisado: 03-08-22
The guest makes an interesting point about ignorance, yet illlustrates said ignorance in his description of group membership among white people. This entire episode is void of any peeceived credibility.

Historia
Our nation is facing a challenge unlike it’s faced in decades. There’s anger, there’s fear, there’s exhaustion. This week I’ve reached out to friends to have necessary and uncomfortable conversations. One call was to my friend, NFL Hall Of Famer Curtis Martin, who sees the world and understands people in a remarkable way. We talked about the lessons he’s learned and the insights he has which I believe will help us navigate through this together. Because we have to go through it together. This is…. Pure Garbage
Revisado: 03-08-22
They could have left out the bits about a big man crying out for his momma, and the guest himself as the rare Black voice who stereotypically grew up around the trappings of narcotics abuse and the criminal justice system. They ruin the credibility of the entire episode. The media needs better exposure to Black voices beyond well-worn tropes.

Advice via stream-of-consciousness narration
Revisado: 02-23-22
The microwave Hot Pockets generation will not appreciate the seemingly unstructured tangential rambling. Those with greater tolerance for ambiguity, however, will appreciate the subtle nuance, worldliness and elegance in the author's word selection.
This is an old work spoken in a received British accent at a slow, steady pace. Within is advice about how to enjoy a day of purpose and contentment, albeit by 19th century standards. Ironically, the author seems to believe that self-reflection seperates average minds from extraordinary minds, and that indulging in too much reading (or what today would be any sort of passive entertainment such as TV or social media) deprives most people of their needed self-reflection.

Is Christianity obsolete? Can an intelligent, educated person really believe the Bible? Or do the atheists have it right? In his new book, best-selling author Dinesh D'Souza ( What's So Great about America) investigates both Christianity and atheism and their influences on culture to show why there is, indeed, something great about Christianity.

Spot on! Incredibly compelling!
Revisado: 12-10-21
Atheism, as a concept in and of itself, has been beaten beyond all recognition. Many who self-identify as "atheists" in a manner of naive defiance have felt forced to change the definition of the word -- aloofly pairing it with the concept to agnosticism, as if performing some sort of a forcible marriage by shotgun. These, as well as many of the other follies of contemporary supposed "atheists," are explored and thoroughly demonstrated to be just as much based in untested faith as the Christianity that they presume to repudiate.

Nobody is better at achieving spectacular success than Donald Trump. Here, Trump shows how America can do the same.

A book about US national politics, not business
Revisado: 12-04-21
This book provides a tepid yet cogent perspective on the Barack Obama administration, and much more interesting takes on the entertainment industry -- in anticipation of the personality-fueled presidential campaign that made Trump's renown ubiquitous.

Historia
A string of best sellers have alerted us to the importance of grit - an ability to persevere and control one's impulses that is closely associated with greatness. But no book yet has charted the most accessible and powerful path to grit: our prosocial emotions. These feelings - gratitude, compassion, and pride - are easier to generate than the willpower and self-denial that underpin traditional approaches to grit. And, while willpower is quickly depleted, prosocial emotions actually become stronger the more we use them.

Good tips for ensuring deeper ties with loved ones
Revisado: 12-02-21
We tend to enjoy deeper connections with some of those with whom we interact. Often those connections stem from interactions that are markedly different from superficial chat about work, the weather and weddings. This book gets you thinking about the good, bad and ugly parts of how those interactions have us coming back for more -- in a very honest way.
The narrative performance is also quite good in its own right. It keeps the listener engaged.

Great, relevant theme, but edits create confusion
Revisado: 11-27-21
The speaker makes a compelling case for improving one's speaking skills.
He instructs the audience in some rather dated techniques from the 90s that speakers now don't use. In addition, the jump cut edits interrupt the flow of ideas. However the overall message is powerful. The speaker is skilled at interspersing levity and vulnerability in his advice about building professional relationships -- very much a focal topic in today's sales industry.
