Disappointed
Revisado: 06-08-24
I don’t understand where all of Mickey’s staff went. I enjoyed the colorful personalities, including Win. This book was dominated by Harry Bosch. Harry’s fine, but he has his own series. And it’s not this one.

Historia
The Night Boat, Robert McCammon's third published novel, first appeared as a paperback original in 1980. Following on the heels of Baal and Bethany's Sin, it offered further proof that a writer of great narrative power and limitless potential - a writer who would achieve a significant position in modern popular fiction--had arrived.

I’m a fan of the author but I couldn’t engage with this book to save my life. I kept trying and failing. The performance was spot on.

Historia
All of a sudden the streets of your city are so overpopulated with security cameras and closed-circuit TV that you have to lock yourself in the bathroom to have an undocumented moment. And locks, which used to provide the recreational pleasure of a moderately challenging crossword puzzle, have become genuinely pickproof.

Historia
Superintendent Dalziel had a somewhat cynical view of what college administrations spent his taxes on. But when he and that over-educated Sergeant of his, Pascoe, were sent to investigate a disinterred corpse at Holm Coultram College, he hadn't reckoned on a rash of fresh killings. While Pascoe rekindled an old flame on the staff, protesting students identified Dalziel as a 'fascist pig'. The Superintendent smiled with satisfaction...if that's how they wanted to play it.

In my opinion, it is the quality of the sound production that is at fault doesn’t anybody listen to the recording before it gets published?

Historia
Billy Halleck commits vehicular manslaughter when his lack of attention results in the death of an old gypsy lady on the street. Overweight Halleck is a lawyer with connections, though, and he gets off with a slap on the wrist. After the trial, the victim's ancient father curses him with a single word: "thinner". Shedding weight by the week, Halleck is desperate enough for one last gamble...one that will lead him to a nightmare showdown with the forces of evil melting his flesh away.

What happened?!?
Revisado: 05-24-22
This has nothing to do with Messrs. King and Mantegna. It’s the person who thought it was a good idea to play that horrible noise between chapters. I would have found it irritating if it had been nice music. The opposite of that took over and the story suffered for it.

Historia
It's 1949. When war veteran Aloysius Archer is released from Carderock Prison, he is sent to Poca City on parole with a short list of dos and a much longer list of don'ts: do report regularly to his parole officer, don't go to bars, certainly don't drink alcohol, do get a job - and don't ever associate with loose women. The small town quickly proves more complicated and dangerous than Archer's years serving in the war or his time in jail.
