Historia
Benjamin's life was perfect. He'd just graduated from college and landed his dream job; he was finally ready to make his own way in life. However, before he could do that, he and his buddies decided to go on one last camping trip that changed everything. Suddenly, the five of them were ripped from their campsite on Earth by powerful magics, brought face-to-face with the might of the rune mages, and forced to become pawns in larger schemes.

Interesting premise, a good start.
Revisado: 03-06-24
The story has an interesting premise and a unique take on the usual system genre, there’s a few places I felt could use more detail, such as further explanation of how magic works past it just being “like code” but so far an intriguing magic system as well. It’s a little bit short for the price at the time of writing this, but serves as a good setup for future books. I’ll be interested to see where this goes.

Historia
"No killing Goblins." So reads the sign outside of The Wandering Inn, a small building run by a young woman named Erin Solstice. She serves pasta with sausage, blue fruit juice, and dead acid flies on request. And she comes from another world. Ours. It's a bad day when Erin finds herself transported to a fantastical world and nearly gets eaten by a Dragon. She doesn't belong in a place where monster attacks are a fact of life, and where Humans are one species among many. But she must adapt to her new life. Or die.

Beautiful story
Revisado: 10-30-23
There’s a special place in my heart for any story that can make me cry, because that to me is proof that not only did it manage to make me care about the characters, but it also managed to portray the emotions of those characters so well that I could feel their pain and empathize. That’s not an easy task for any author, anyone can make a likable character and then hurt or kill them, not anyone can make you feel the pain of the friends of that character and even bring a bittersweet tear to your eye as they sing their eulogy.

Historia
Nathan's life was defined by labs and lectures until an Archmage yanked him into Davrar and made him a tantalizing offer: master magic in exchange for Earth's scientific secrets. Yet, Nathan can't shake off the feeling that darker truths lurk beneath such promises. The world of Davrar is a dangerous place teeming with dungeons and monsters–ruled by levels, Talents, and a near-infinite progression of power. Nathan will need to rely on himself to survive, forging alliances and taking every advantage he can get against those that seek to control him.

Great and satisfying concept
Revisado: 10-23-23
I came from a reddit post describing the story, it sounded like my kind of thing and i’m glad to say it was, definitely worth a read and i’ll be checking in to see when the next books get audio versions.
If I had to criticize one small thing, I would say I found it kind of confusing how Nathan never really questions the culture of hoarding insights, it seems to me like the only real reason for adventurers not to share knowledge like that is greed and wanting to control the power, it’s not been hinted that the skills get weaker if you share them with too many people, the only other risk would be enemies like giant’s rest getting ahold of them much like the concern with guns. If he’s willing to question the dueling culture then why not at least acknowledge that his world shares knowledge like “insights” freely and have a small discussion as to why this world doesn’t rather than just instantly accepting it as how things work here?
As I said it’s a very small gripe that just tickled the back of my mind a little each time trading or selling insights was brought up, overall it was a great listen and i’m glad I came to check it out!

The end convinced me to stay
Revisado: 09-22-23
Honestly, the general lack of comedy in the book had me considering moving on to try another series despite it being great otherwise, but the presence of hilarious bloopers at the end convinced me to stay and continue to the next book!
