Camp Perfection!
Revisado: 11-21-16
Delightfully zippy fembot camp with an Austin Powers circa Indiana Jones feel. The length was just right and the narration was quite skilled. I'm looking forward to this winning formula and as word of mouth builds I hope the author doesn't change a thing.

Wonderful, complicated love
Revisado: 11-12-16
If you could sum up Ripples Through Time in three words, what would they be?
Poignant. Reflective. Satisfying.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ripples Through Time?
Definitely the funeral.
What about Don Foote’s performance did you like?
The tone and timbre of his voice was perfect for a book about a 79 year old but his skill kept the narration fresh.
If you could take any character from Ripples Through Time out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Bethany - she's a straight shooter and compassionate.
Any additional comments?
Ripples Through Time is an exquisite, thoughtful examination of life, love and the mosaic of memories that make us who we are. I loved this book because it kept unfolding in meaning and substance as it went along, which is why literary fiction is so rewarding. Calvin is not a simple man, nor is the life he shared with his late wife Millie or the relationship he has with his grown children. But there is depth there and complex joy and a strength that made this book a winner for me. I guarantee you will find yourself pausing every now and then because something you've read has triggered a memory and if you're like me you'll also find yourself picking up the phone to make sure that the people in your life know how much you really love them. Excellent book!

Books like these come along once every ten years or so, if not more. I actually experienced a bit of anxiety when I realized there were only two hours left. There aren't enough stars to rate this book fairly!

Historia
This Pulitzer Prize-winning classic tells the poignant tale of a Chinese farmer and his family in old agrarian China. The humble Wang Lung glories in the soil he works, nurturing the land as it nurtures him and his family. Nearby, the nobles of the House of Hwang consider themselves above the land and its workers; but they will soon meet their own downfall. The working people riot, breaking into the homes of the rich and forcing them to flee. When Wang Lung shows mercy to one noble and is rewarded, he begins to rise in the world, even as the House of Hwang falls.

Unbelievable and not in a good way
Revisado: 02-23-16
Two men fighting to the death and a toddler in the room never wakes up? Even as the mother is shrieking? A 13th century knight tells his wife they're going on a 'shopping trip'? We're told the pony had grown fat during the journey but they had only started out the morning before. And since when can an aristocratic couple get married without banns?
I just can't.

Gripping and poignant
Revisado: 02-21-16
I got pulled into this story so unexpectedly that I didn't have time to get my bearings before the plot twist began. This book was nothing like I have ever come across before yet it was so much more than I expected. It was poignant and heartbreaking at times. I don't think it is possible to fully understand the characters but you really don't have to, you just feel for them. The story stays with you long after the last sentence. I'm excited to see more from this author.

Historia
Eerie, dreamlike, set in a world that is weirdly related to our own, The Gunslinger introduces Roland Deschain of Gilead, of In-World that was, as he pursues his enigmatic antagonist to the mountains that separate the desert from the Western Sea in the first volume of The Dark Tower series. Roland, the last gunslinger, is a solitary figure, perhaps accursed, who with a strange single-mindedness traverses an exhausted, almost timeless landscape of good and evil.

Fact-filled and to the point.
Revisado: 01-17-16
After starting this book it didn't take long to realize it was going to deliver. Many books in this category are vague, outmoded or are simply humble brags and money grabs.
Not this book, however. While listening I was jotting down notes and could barely keep up as the info was coming at me so quickly. That is a good thing!
The author condenses his experience and knowledge into an easy to grasp, easy to do system that I will be using. His personal story is also positive and inspiring, as you will see. Highly recommended!

um, well...
Revisado: 12-10-15
Compared to the feast that is Diana Gabaldan this book was like microwave pizza. It will do if you're starving, but...
the time travel was heavily glossed over, the historical details were scant, the villian was just mildly ee-vil in a Scooby Doo way, the supporting cast was one dimensional and Eva and Daniel lacked fire. at one point I found myself wondering what they found irresistable about one another besides some vague, presumed sex appeal.
Everyone was quite pleasant, most of what happened was quite pleasant and the ending was - wait for it...exactly.
no one, including the pleasant heroine, seemed particularly shocked by the time travel aspect beyond being perplexed and borderline shocked.
something nice...well, the narration was good - a little too peppy to be excellent but good. the Cornish country was described beautifully and in dreamy detail. the intimacy was kept at an acceptable level between sweet and steamy - no heat but very romantic and well written.
I would only recommend this book if you enjoy lighter romantic fare and do not wish to invest 25+ hours per book on the heavier stuff. otherwise Gabaldan and Kinsale all the way!
