Don't use if you want to STAY asleep!

Not a huge fan of all the "child of god" talk, but I could get past that. What I cannot get past is the crescendo of music after the narration. It gets SO LOUD it wakes me up. Several of this author's books are like this, but there's usually a latter track that's not as bad and I can deal with it. I will probably try to download and edit on my own to end the track before that point, or to drop the volume. But no one should have to do that with an audiobook designed to work while you sleep.

Historia
After standing at Donald Trump’s side on Election Night, Cliff Sims joined him in the West Wing as special assistant to the president and director of White House message strategy. He soon found himself pulled into the president’s inner circle as a confidante, an errand boy, an advisor, a punching bag, and a friend. This is the story of what it was really like in the West Wing as a member of the president’s team. It's a story of power and palace intrigue, backstabbing and bold victories, as well as painful moral compromises, occasionally with yourself.

The worst kind of unreliable narrator.
Revisado: 03-03-19
This is what you get when a spin doctor writes a book. He justifies Trump's base supporting him by saying they see him clearly, they just believe God can use an "imperfect tool" to do a job. And then he turns around and criticizes Democrats' behavior saying they act as though the ends justify the means. And apparently he doesn't see his own hypocrisy.
My absolute favorite hypocrisy though has to be the juxtaposition of Sims' insistence that he never heard Trump utter a single racist word in his time working for him, yet in his own book Sims quotes "The Merchant of Venice" in reference to Jared Kushner, a Jewish man: "And knowing Jared, I figured he would one day extract his pound of flesh." Casual, ignorant racism is still freaking racism. How can we trust him to even know what a racist statement sounds like when he makes them himself and has no clue?
So much I would say here, and I'm just too disgusted to do it. The censoring of swear words in an audiobook when you're quoting people? Grow up. If your audience can't handle the language because of their sensitive ears, they shouldn't be reading. if your personal morality is offended at the speaking of swear words aloud in an audiobook, then what the hell were you doing in Trump's Administration? It's just ridiculous.

Historia
Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

So good!!!
Revisado: 07-19-17
What does Kate Mulgrew bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She's an incredible, powerful actor. She made me forget I was listening to an audiobook.
Any additional comments?
Amazing book! Do not miss it.
