Historia
In The Frontlines of Peace, Séverine Autesserre, award-winning researcher and peacebuilder, examines the well-intentioned but inherently flawed peace industry. With examples drawn from across the globe, she reveals that peace can grow in the most unlikely circumstances. Contrary to what most politicians preach, building peace doesn't require billions in aid or massive international interventions. Real, lasting peace requires giving power to local citizens.

I learned situationally many things
Revisado: 08-22-22
I had known that building pease is hard, and this book explains why. It sounds reasonable, and explains why we still have do much violence. There are a lot of problems that are really hard to solve, but sometimes they are important enough do we still must keep trying until we prevail. We just must learn in our mistakes and don't repeat what doesn't work.

Historia
Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859) was an intrepid explorer and the most famous scientist of his age. His restless life was packed with adventure and discovery, whether climbing the highest volcanoes in the world or racing through anthrax-infested Siberia. He came up with a radical vision of nature, that it was a complex and interconnected global force and did not exist for man's use alone. Ironically, his ideas have become so accepted and widespread that he has been nearly forgotten.

Very educational

I haven't heard about Humboldt. Though the content might be a bit boring, not much though.

Historia
What does it actually mean to be rational? Not Hollywood-style "rational", where you forsake all human feeling to embrace Cold Hard Logic, but where you make good decisions, even when it's hard; where you reason well, even in the face of massive uncertainty; where you recognize and make full use of your fuzzy intuitions and emotions, rather than trying to discard them. In Rationality: From AI to Zombies, Eliezer Yudkowsky explains the science underlying human irrationality with a mix of fables, argumentative essays, and personal vignettes.

I think it took me more than a year to finish the book.
Though I'll probably reread done chapters. I would only suggest that book of you're into such things.

Pretty good list of interesting situations

though should say that many are more programming than math. Otherwise it can be a good list of stuff you can tell as a story on a family dinner, or to friends.
