Watts has seriously overcomplicated a grest story
Revisado: 09-13-23
The story is a great story. But dear God Watts jumps around so much and leaves sooo many holes in the back story. This is an extremely tedious listen/read. He goes out of his way to use words that were absolutely unneeded and it feels like the contemplations he is trying induce in the reader are his and.not the characters. I say this because he doesn't use language that fit the characters. His historical recollections of society in up to 2083 makes no sense and assumes the listener will fill in the missing information. I am only three hours in and I am struggling with his syntax and word choice. They don't make sense. You add that with the holes he has left and oddly timed character recollections and listening to it feels like a job. If I were reading this I would have had to go back and reread so many pages i would not have made it past chapter 2. I will probably only finish it because I already spent the money. But so far it is a frustrsting experience. the bouncing ball scene at the crew meeting was such a useless scene and waste of time. If you enjoy an author who wore out his thesarus and puts too much effort into seeming extremely smart then this book is for you. For me it felt like simply telling the story would hsve made this a blockbuster or even a chance at a movie.
The performance was good enough. You could tell the narrator wasn't enjoying the story either because at times he comes across flat as though in his head he to is trying to figure out parts of the story but he is on a time limit.

Historia
The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

excellent story but...
Revisado: 05-18-23
I absolutely loved this story. But I had an issue with it. The last 3 hours felt extremely combersome. It was as though there was a set word count and Howey was bound and determined to meet it. The entire under water portion of the story and the few events leading up to it could be taken out and the story would be exactly the same with zero change to the end. I felt it served no literary purpose nor did it further the story in any meaningful sense. I suspect it was in there entirely due to an editor. Other than that I loved the story and premise

almost 3 hours in and still lost
Revisado: 01-10-23
I am almost three hours in and I am still not sure what yhe book is about and who is part of the major conflict. it took me 45 minutes to realize they were switching settings. if i have to gritt my way through 1/4 then it just ends up being work. It is not very enjoyable trying to guess who from the futures future is part of the story and who from just the future is going to be part...
At time it feels like gibson was writing filler paragraghs. iI don't hate yhe book but it is not a fun listen.
King was doing the best she could to make it an interesting read.

The company of the Ring is torn asunder. Frodo and Sam continue their journey alone down the great River Anduin - alone, that is, save for the mysterious creeping figure that follows wherever they go. This continues the classic tale begun in The Fellowship of the Ring, which reaches its awesome climax in The Return of the King.

Probably the best narration performance
Revisado: 06-08-22
Andy Serkis absolutely makes this already amazing story spectacular. his range in voices and the ability to convey a scene with perfect inflection and emotion blows me away. He actually added depth to widely well known characters. As with the written book and the movies this absolutely stands alone in performance and interpretation. If you own the books and the movies then you must own this audio book. the triumverant lock in for this story.

Ten years after the collapse, Huxley has built a good life again. He has a loving wife, a farm with fields of golden barley, and a daughter with a strange and wonderful gift. Then the slavers come. Working out in the fields during the attack, Huxley returns too late. His daughter has been taken, and his wife is bleeding out, her last whispered words about a man with a scorpion tattoo on his neck. Where do the slavers go? Huxley has no idea. He knows only that they head east, and so will he, setting out on foot across the desert of the Wastelands.

Great story but seemed artificially long
Revisado: 10-21-20
Molles is an excellent writer. I love all of his books. Including this one. But, Wolves seems longer than it should have been. there was an extremely large percentage of the story spent on Huxley's inner monolog and turmoil. But seemed like rinse and repeat moments. I eventually got tired of the phrase "how do I feel." I also tired of the minutia of Huxley's inner conflict. Don't get me wrong. The story was excellent. I just feel it could have been shorter.
Rummel killed it as usual. one of the best in the business.

But someone or some thing has other plans for Meredith, and as her fingers slip from the cold steel of the bridge, a disembodied voice asks her a simple question: “Candidate 13: Do you wish to be saved?” Realizing her mistake too late, Meredith screams “Yes!” and instantly finds herself transported to a mysterious island, alongside hundreds of other Candidates like her.

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

This was an amazing recount of the Norse Pantheon
Revisado: 07-26-20
The story is amazing. I enjoyed how well researched it seemed to be. plus when an author reads their own work you tend to get just a mediocre performance but insight to the authors words. in this case Gaiman was the only person who could have brought these myths to a 3D listening experience. Absolutely love this book and performance. I will be listening to it many more times.

One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.
