loved the book. such great energy and fun
the ending. I hate it and love it and not sure which I would rather having. I lean slightly toward wishing I could have loved the ending.

stop repeating yourself
Revisado: 12-01-23
wow they repeat themselves so much.
every other conversation start with, "we should do this thing". Has a middle that says "oh so we can do this thing." Then end with, "omg I have a great idea what if we do this thing!"
another view conversations are "do you remember them Jason did this cool thing. man that was so cool"
the last few are "man I hate myself and everything I've done and I suck" followed by some on saying "it's okay."
Thier are almost no consequences and we just go through the motions.
Gonna give the next one a go to see if this gets fixed, but if t doesn't im off this train .

Good foil characters for Zack, horrible audio edit
Revisado: 08-04-23
story is good I'm this. thier are good foil for Zack that helps demonstrate his progress.
However, the editing is not great. lots of retakes that are still in the final version. lots of scraping and scuffing sounds. Some time the speaker will talk from the left or right for no discernable reason.

A rush to the finish
Revisado: 06-27-23
I really enjoyed this series, and this is a okay final book. however, it's only a play finally off the backs of other books in the series.
So much of this book is very rushed. this book is a huge muffin made of MacGuffins. this could be fine, but it's done in a very un satisfying way.
it also trya to give send offs for every single character in the various series.
it's just a lot, but it's not the end of the world..

Great second book
Revisado: 06-18-23
Honestly, a pretty great second book.
It frustrates you in all of the good ways. Where you are excited for events to come, but they have to be earned.
It's alittle force his choice with what to do about combat cards. I wish he'd go into depth with why he does what he does or doesn't do.
Otherwise i really loved the book and it sets up really well for more, but also ends at a great place.

Historia
Land-ho! Clyde and co. have finally—finally—made it to the City of Darkness. Which turns out to actually exist! One small problem though. Anyone and anything that sets foot on the island immediately disappears. Ceases to exist. Poof. To complete the quest, Clyde needs to figure out how to actually enter the city and steal the crown jewels . . . without getting stuck in the town forever. It's a foreboding, dark place (obviously), where corruption is rampant. And maybe worse: the game rules Clyde's gotten so good at bending to his will? They don't seem to apply.

First 2hrs are a heavy anchor to bear
Revisado: 04-09-23
The first 2 hrs of this are really painful. It's hours of considering and thinking about if something should be done, but it's not done very scientifically.
This really make the rest of the book kind of frustrating because a lot of the characters want to be really mysterious and not direct about anything. Since, the whole first 2 hrs is a signifigant lack of directness it makes the fun lack of directness feel frustrating.
Honestly, skip the first 2 hrs and it's a solid, if rather short, listen.
The last 2 hrs are pretty great. You could honestly almost listen to the last 4 hrs and have a great time.

But Arthur has an edge: a stolen heart card that secretly fell into his possession, thanks to a dragon. It’s a priceless source of power for the Baron and the tyrant will kill to get it back. Invaluable, too, to a young man of spellcasting ambitions.

Wow! This was great
Revisado: 03-30-23
this was a very wonderful litrpgs!!
It was super easy to listen and I was interested at every turn.
The book has very little combat or action sequences. the few that are in the book are really well set up. The character is very believable and the story isnt extremely YA.
I am really excited for the next book.

What other reviews say but also Jeff Hays pops off
Revisado: 11-12-22
The other reviews say a lot of great things I agree with.
What they don't mention is that Jeff Hays goes OFF in his performance in this book. It's actually insane.
