I work in Minneapolis City Hall
Revisado: 01-25-21
I hadn't looked into the author prior to buying the audiobook. I hadn't realized it was set in MN, nor had I realized that he worked as a defense attorney in MN. I work inside Minneapolis City Hall and I loved the detail about the marble/granite in the building along with the fact that the homicide department being housed here. So those details were an extra joy for me.
As for the book itself, I felt it was well written and enjoyable. It took me a few chapters to become invested but once I was invested I finished it straight through. It has accurate scientific tidbits (Y chromosome), which makes sense given his history. it has, of course, some liberties taken but I found it a highly enjoyable read.
I also really liked the voice of the performer.

Painful truths, beautifully written
Revisado: 08-22-18
I loved the book and may revisit it one day but it was emotionally draining.
The author poignantly elucidates the terrible truths behind the Tennesse Children's Society. It is a story that needs to be told and heard and Lisa Wingate does so beautifully through the eyes of 2 characters in both the present and the past.
It's hard to come to grips with the reality of what happened to so many children.
I highly recommend it but be warned, it may make you cry.

Historia
When Jessica volunteered as tribute to a sorcerer's court, she knew that sex would be part of her job. However, she did not expect Lord Azrael to “feed” her to his pet incubus on her first day at work. She’s shocked that the incubus - a shape-shifting panther - can take the form of a man. She’s shocked that they have an audience. She’s even more shocked that she likes it. When the show is over, Jessica is sent off to new adventures, but she can’t stop thinking about him.

First Ever Erotic Fiction
Revisado: 03-30-18
What did you love best about Incubus Caged?
I loved the story that surrounded and strengthened the erotic scenes. I felt that the two things had a way of perfectly balancing each other.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Incubus Caged?
This is difficult to explain without spoilers so I'll just say the ending.
Which character – as performed by Lauren Harris – was your favorite?
Azrael - he has many different aspects of his personality that get put on display and Lauren performed them all very well.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
This book was my first ever erotic fiction/fantasy. I've read books with erotic moments in them but not like this. I decided to give the book a try because I love her other works and I certainly did not regret it. I loved the book feeling like there was a good balance of the steamy erotic scenes but had a strong backbone of an interesting story tying it all together. I must admit I was skeptical because "romance novels" come with quite the stigma but after hearing this one, I will definitely get the rest. And my mind is more open to try reading other erotic/romance type novels.
It had a fantastic story, compelling characters, enjoyable sex scenes and I couldn't have enjoyed it more.

Historia
In this collection of short stories from the world of Panamindorah, Silveo meets Basil, Silas meets Percy, Anaroo meets Gwain, Gus meets Silas, and Gerard prepares to meet Thessalyn. Dakar and Theseus are tiny children, caught up in the machinations of others; Glossy makes impossibly difficult decisions for herself and her child; and Marlie struggles with the ghosts of her past and present. All of them will find their places in the world, often far from where they started. For the moment, however, they are doing everything for the first time.

Too Good to be So Short
Revisado: 06-06-17
Where does When We Were Young rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Pretty high up on my audiobook list. I would rank it below Hunter's Unlucky. Otherwise, it is my number two audiobook (and I have a LOT of audiobooks).
Who was your favorite character and why?
Silas - He is an interesting character because he has so much to hide but you realize that it is somewhat against his nature in a sense. I think there was a line that said, "If asked outright, I wouldn't lie" (about being a leon), but he has to in order to achieve his dreams. I don't want to give away too much but he is a very well developed character.
Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have and Rish actually narrated all of Hunter's Unlucky. I felt that he had another strong performance in this. All the narrators performed well - my only complaint is Alcer's voice.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This was pretty lighthearted and I found myself smiling and chuckling out loud.
Any additional comments?
This collection of short stories was amazing.
First, my "complaints" - 1) I was not a fan of Alcer's voice in this compliation which probably just comes from knowing/remember his voice in The Guild of the Cowry Catchers Series. 2) All the stories felt too short!
And that's it. So you know these are good if that's all I have bad to say!
Second, I was very surprised that my two favorite stories were the ones with Silas and Gus. I enjoyed the characters in The Scarlet Albatross (I am waiting for Jager Thunder to be available on audible) but I wasn't expecting their short stories to be my two favorites. That said, all of the short stories were well written, intriguing, and gave another important glimpse into the character's lives/backstories to allow for a better understanding of the characters themselves - what more could be asked of a short story than this?
Nothing.
As for the voice acting, as always, it was great. The only thing I was not a fan of was Alcer's voice which again, is probably just because I imagined him with the voice from The Guild of the Cowry Catchers Series. I honestly am very impressed with all the voice actors and their ability to differentiate the characters which is important to me since I almost exclusively listen to audio books due to a long commute.
In short - if you love the world that Abigail Hilton has created, you need this book/audiobook/kindle book.

Best book in a while!
Revisado: 02-16-17
I was extremely pleased with this book. It's definitely been the best book that I've read in a while. It's a coming-of-age story that truly takes you in and makes you want to listen more. I often found myself lying awake at night wanting to listen more to the story but simultaneously not wanting to continue because I didn't want it to end so quickly. As a result, I limited myself just to listening to it on my way to and from work and thinking about it at all other hours. I only have one minor complaint about the book and it's just something that I think was done to save time in an already long book. It's not bad just something I wish had been different. Ultimately, it is quite minor and I don't want anyone spoiled or dissuaded from reading because of the comment. Anyway, I also thoroughly wnjoyed the performance of it and felt that the narrator did a great job. Dying for the next one.

Unexpected Gem
Revisado: 04-11-16
I picked this book up during a sale because it was so cheap. I didn't really know if I would actually listen to it or not but it peaked my interest enough to buy it.
I just finished it and I loved it! The anthropomorphization of the creatures in the story was right on point and the plot points hit on a lot of very poignant wartime and after war struggles. The plot has a nice progression and each character is complex. Its very satisfying to see the subtle growth among some of the main characters.
The narrator is also worth noting as this individual does a good job and certainly made the book better with all the different voices given to the characters.
I hope that there are sequels and actually prequels as well!
