Historia
Since his wife died, Ralph Roberts has been having trouble sleeping. Each night he wakes up a bit earlier until he's barely sleeping at all. During his late-night walks, he observes some strange things going on in Derry, Maine. He sees colored ribbons streaming from people's heads, two strange little men wandering around town after dark, and more. He begins to suspect that these visions are something more than hallucinations brought on by lack of sleep.

Please stop, including music in audiobooks, it’s like listening to a laugh track while watching a movie
Revisado: 02-24-24
I enjoyed this, but it was tough to get through. The story wasn’t as interesting as other Stephen King novels, but worst of all as others have mentioned the music was so bad and so distracting. It doesn’t just play between scenes. It plays over the scenes like a laugh track during what I suppose are supposed to be suspenseful or pivotal moments. Please stop including music and audiobooks.

Historia
Sergeant Ted Regan has a problem. A son of one of the great corporate families, a Scion, has gone missing at the front. He should have been protected by his Ironclad - the lethal battle suits that make the Scions masters of war - but something has gone catastrophically wrong. Now Regan and his men, ill-equipped and demoralised, must go behind enemy lines, find the missing Scion and uncover how his suit failed. Is there a new Ironclad killer out there? And how are common soldiers, lacking the protection afforded the rich, supposed to survive the battlefield of tomorrow?

Really - Adrian Tchaikovsky?
Revisado: 06-26-21
I love everything by Adrian Tchaikovsky, but Ironclads was difficult to get through. There were some good parts and decent concepts but it fell short of expectation.

Historia
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

I enjoyed this out of the gate. Just pay attention to who is whom in the first chapter or so. They introduce six characters in a short period of time.

Fun, but a little superficial
Revisado: 04-29-19
The story has a lot of themes you see in hard science fiction without a deeper explanation or even recognition of how those technologies might be executed or affect the plot in more logical way. For example, artificial gravity is just a thing. There’s no explanation of when or how it came to be, or how related technologies might be used to do other useful things much needed by the society ... they just have artificial gravity and take it for granted. However, the story is a good listen overall. I’m getting part 2.

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Historia
In the conclusion of the Poseidon's Children saga, the Akinya family receives an invitation from across the stars - and a last opportunity to redeem their name.... "Send Ndege". The cryptic message originated 70 light-years away from the planet Crucible, where Ndege Akinya lives under permanent house arrest for her role in the catastrophe that killed 417,000 people. Could it be from her mother, Chiku, who vanished during a space expedition decades earlier?

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Unique and well constructed
Revisado: 10-09-09
There are some parts that are long and seem to have a bit more detail than necessary but its constant with the main character nature and, as he's the also narrator it fits very well and I found it enjoyable. The time travel scenario was unique and I enjoyed the authors take on the Maya game, the game in general. It's probably not for everyone but it kept interested and entertained. The book is better than the sample, so if you like the sample, you'll probably like the book. If you don't like the sample, I wouldn't recommend it.
