Historia
The McLaughlin twins were trailblazing female photographers, celebrated in their time as stars in their respective fields, but have largely been forgotten since. Here, in Double Click, Carol Kino brings these two brilliant women and their remarkable accomplishments to vivid life.

Opportunity to Learn from Artists’ Journeys
Revisado: 01-22-25
Kino brings the reader on a journey through the last 60 years through the lives of twins who documented some of that history and worked to refine fashion photography. As an artist, I appreciated reading about the trajectories of each of the twins alongside their colleagues and peers. Their managers make a big difference in how they advance in their careers. Also, it shows how contests created opportunities and deadlines which helped them along their way. We think of history as being more progressive over time, but in ways they lived in a time that was more open and accepting than today's time.

Historia
Florence, the 1550s. Lucrezia, third daughter of the grand duke, is comfortable with her obscure place in the palazzo: free to wonder at its treasures, observe its clandestine workings, and to devote herself to her own artistic pursuits. But when her older sister dies on the eve of her wedding, Lucrezia is thrust into the limelight: the duke is quick to request her hand in marriage, and her father just as quick to accept on her behalf. Having barely left girlhood behind, Lucrezia must make her way in a court whose customs are opaque and where her arrival is not universally welcomed.

repetitive

Too much repetitive description —I found myself fast forwarding the last two chapters to finish it
