Historia
What do you do when there are no borders? When the lines you thought existed simply vanish? How do you plant your feet to make a stand when you no longer know what side you’re on? The war has come home. For over forty years, Art Keller has been on the front lines of America’s longest conflict: The War on Drugs. His obsession to defeat the world’s most powerful, wealthy, and lethal kingpin—the godfather of the Sinaloa Cartel, Adán Barrera—has left him bloody and scarred, cost him the people he loves, even taken a piece of his soul.

The liberal political diatribes
Revisado: 02-01-25
Gave up listening after the 27th liberal diatribe against conservative Americans and obvious attacks against President Trump and those Americans who support traditional conservative values. Repeatedly announcing how fascist, stupid and racist conservatives are (over and over), made the story more irritating and entertaining

Sealed away from public view more than a century at the instruction of their author, Dr. John Watson, these three cases of Sherlock Holmes are available here for the first time. Like the earlier volume in this series, each reveals the role Holmes and Watson played in investigating crimes involving actual historical events and prominent personages.

Horrible Couldn’t get past the politically correct, whiny, “woke” introduction.
Revisado: 11-04-24
After listening to the woke I introduction that could have been written by the DNC - understand why you had to give the book away for free.
Shame for the authors who may have written good stories.

Interesting observations, terrific action and realistic thought processes by all the characters, with almost zero politics and political correctness.

Ruined by omnipresent anti-male stereotypes
Revisado: 08-14-24
Continuous misandry and anti-male stereotyping. The men are all either evil or stupid and crude. The women are either saint like, and/or constantly forced to explain their brilliant observations and understanding to the doltish superficial men.

Not up to standards - full of stereotypes
Revisado: 06-23-24
The only book in the series where I actually rooted for the bad guys.
You can foresee the protagonist’s mistakes a mile away - no intelligent “operative” would commit these errors.
Worse - we are beaten to death by politically correct stereotypes:
Cops - crooked or inept;
Illegal Immigrants - kind and innocent,
Men - bad
Women - good
Father - bad
Mother - good
Got boring fairly quickly.

OK, Just OK
Revisado: 04-18-23
Several things made this the least entertaining book in the series for me.
First, apparently all Southern folks are hopelessly uneducated and violent, or just plain dim witted buffoons.
Second, the criminal justice system exists to allow men to victimize women with impunity, Apparently it’s 1953, not 2023.
Third, the “hero” of the story devoted his abilities to, as best he can, helping violent criminals avoid justice. That’s a “hero” I don’t need.
Fourth, much of the story had little to do with the main character.
The superficial, misandrist virtue signaling diminished an otherwise reasonably interesting story.

But then, nothing - no further crimes are committed, and the case goes cold. 50 years later, has the urge to kill been reawakened? As murder follows murder, the detective team tasked with solving the crimes struggle with the lack of leads. It’s a race against time and the weather - each time it snows, another person dies.

Decent Story wrecked by PC
Revisado: 01-30-23
Started out as a decent book, but was wrecked by political correctness. I listen to an audiobook to be entertained, not re-educated. I stopped listening on the third or fourth lesson about women’s struggles to handle men’s boorishness. Apparently, British cops spend more time dealing with their feelings than fighting crime. If the cops described in this book are typical of British law enforcement, I’d move. Hopefully, I can return this book.

Historia
During the worst blizzard in memory, an FBI agent in a moving SUV in New York City is killed by a nearly impossible sniper shot. Unable to pinpoint where the shot came from, as the storm rapidly wipes out evidence, the agent-in-charge Brett Kehoe turns to the one man who might be able to help them - former FBI agent Lucas Page. Page, a university professor and best-selling author, left the FBI years ago after a tragic event robbed him of the willingness to continue. Lucas Page has no interest in helping the FBI - except for the fact that the victim was his former partner.

Wanted Potential
Revisado: 02-07-21
The theme of City of Windows is pretty common. A federal investigator, blessed with a unique and highly advantageous skill set, who happens to be independently wealthy, overcomes extraordinary personal challenges to try to bring a killing spree to an end.
Common, but not bad.
What spoils the book for me is the author inserting obviously unnecessary political diatribes, denigrating everyone who has the audacity to disagree with his political leanings.
I thought I’d purchased a mystery thriller, but found I’d purchased a political manifesto. It’s fine the author wants to attack any conservative as ignorant, gun-toting Neanderthals, just understand those depictions are in accurate, but more importantly, the political lectures detract from the entertainment value the book might have had.

Political propoganda disguised as a book
Revisado: 03-30-13
What a waste of time.
That's several hours of my life I will never get back, before I finally gave up.
First, the positive - the action sequences were entertaining.
As for the remaining 99% of the book-
If I had wanted to listen to a propaganda manual inundated with simplistic, inaccurate, defamatory stereotypes, I would have been more than satisfied.
If you believe that democracy is a socialist plot, the Constitution an inconvenience to be ridiculed, the Marines should be outsourced and replaced by Blackwater mercenaries, you named your first born after Ayn Rand, and you have petitioned the Vatican seeking early sainthood for the Koch Brothers, then this book might entertain you.
I was hoping to listen to a "thriller", not a political re-education and indoctrination tape.
