Historia
Two years after his wife’s death, oceanographer and former navy SEAL, Atticus Young attempts to reconcile with his rebellious daughter, Giona, by taking her on the scuba dive of a lifetime - swimming with a pod of peaceful humpback whales in the Gulf of Maine. But the beauty of the sea belies a terror from the deep - a horrific creature as immense as it is ancient. There is no blood, no scream, no fight. Giona is swallowed whole by the massive jaws. Only Atticus remains to suffer the shame of the survivor and his inconsolable grief turns to an unquenchable thirst for revenge.

It's a good thing his writing got better
Revisado: 03-05-24
like the title says it's a good thing his writing got better over time because this particular outing was very much less than previous listenings that I have enjoyed.
The language is stilted and although in subsequent books we are asked to suspend belief, in this one the coincidences are just far too common and absurd to make the story flow properly.
most of his other works are quite enjoyable but I would stay away from this one.

Historia
Returning to the territory he so brilliantly explored in his masterful New York Times best seller American Gods, the incomparable Neil Gaiman offers up a work of dazzling ingenuity, a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth that is at once startling, terrifying, exhilarating, and fiercely funny, a true wonder of a novel that confirms Stephen King's glowing assessment of the author as "a treasure house of story, and we are lucky to have him."

25 hours I'll never get back
Revisado: 07-07-22
the author is obviously in love with Bram Stoker's style of writing. very melodramatic and Victorian in style. I've never "seen" grown men weep so often in a book.

Three months have passed since Richard Jury was left bereft and guilt- ridden after his lover's tragic auto accident, and he is now more wary than ever. He is deeply suspicious when requested on a case far out of his jurisdiction in an outlying village, where a young woman has been murdered behind the local pub. The only witness is the establishment's black cat, who gives neither crook nor clue as to the girl's identity or her killer's.

more talking pets...
Revisado: 05-19-19
this one is marginally better than the last because at least the talking pets don't solve the crime. the narrator sounds like William Shatner doing James Kirk. he speaks far too fast and it's almost impossible to tell the differences between the various characters by his voice. thank God this is the only one in the series that Steve West does not narrate.
