Not Worth Reading
Revisado: 06-01-17
It started off well and interesting and I kept reading. Suddenly it turned into a ridiculous science fiction book and I didn't bother finishing it. If I had known it wasn't going to end in the real world I wouldn't have started

The Underground Railroad
Revisado: 09-12-16
The story is non stop atrocities. So many of the people that helped her were killed. Some by hanging and she didn't mention them until the last sentences. The family that risked their lives to hide her were murdered without even a mention. She was there for months. What I wondered is how the slaveowners could afford to cripple and kill these men and women that they paid so much to buy them. I didn't like it at all but I read the entire book to find an act of kindness. The name of the book should not be as named. Thousands of black slaves and whites dug that tunnel for the rest of their friend and family to escape. She relented easily And showed the monsters where they were. Is she supposed to be a ?hero?????

Historia
Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Great narration but confusing story.
Revisado: 03-15-15
Too many changes in timeframe to keep up with. We listened for 13 hours and needed to know what happened to the characters between the end of the war and 1974. The diamond was a big part of the story and we don't know what happened to it

Non stop excitement
Revisado: 11-20-12
Where does The Bloomsday Dead rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I couldn't put it down. I was actually starting with the last of the series. I enjoyed it so much, I went back and bought the other two. The narrator is the best I have ever heard in ten years with audible.
What other book might you compare The Bloomsday Dead to and why?
I've never read anything line this. It was so fast paced. It reminded me of Gone Girl in that you couldn't stop listening because every chapter had new adventures
Which scene was your favorite?
The very end with Bridget.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The way his relationship with Scottie turned out
Any additional comments?
Read all three.

This is the best book I have read or listened to in 60 years of reading. This book actually changed my life and my thinking and made me terrible sad that these two people are no longer leading our country.
I now believe that Eleanor Roosevelt is the greatest Woman Leader of our time.

The American military is a tightly sealed community, and few outsiders have reason to know that a great many senior officers view the Iraq war with incredulity and dismay. But many officers have shared their anger with renowned military reporter Thomas E. Ricks, and in Fiasco, Ricks combines these astonishing on-the-record military accounts with his own extraordinary on-the-ground reportage to create a spellbinding account of an epic disaster.

Unbelievably good. Once you start reading it, you can't put it down. Not recommended for Bush fans though or anyone else that thinks he was telling the truth this whole six years. The amazing thing about this book is that it appears to be non-partisan. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth

Over the course of a lifetime of service to his country, Colin Powell became a national hero, a beacon of wise leadership, and, according to polls, "the most trusted man in America". From his humble origins as the son of Jamaican immigrants, to the highest levels of government in four administrations, he helped guide the nation through some of its most heart-wrenching hours.

This book is a wonderful lesson in history and what it takes to make a General in the military. Although I found it interesting, I was disappointed in the fact that there is no emotion to speak of. His children and family seem like they are in a back closet somewhere and not even a part of his life. His experience dealing with Bush and Rumsfield was particularly interesting to me.
