Historia
In 2108, Colony Ship Voyager departed Earth for the planet of Promissa with 18,000 of the world’s best and brightest on board. 250 years and 27 light years later, an arrival is imminent. But all is not well. The probes that they’ve sent ahead to gather the data needed to establish any kind of settlement aren’t responding, and the information they have received has presented more questions than answers. It’s a time when the entire crew should be coming together to solve the problem, but science officer Sheila Jackson can’t get people to listen.

Great stand alone book
Revisado: 01-20-24
This was an intriguing, and entertaining listen.
And it’s something we don’t see enough in the industry today. A complete stand alone story. Don’t get me wrong, I love a solid series and getting more of characters I fall in love with. But it’s ok to have a complete tale. I repeat. ITS OK TO HAVE A COMPLETE TAIL.
I always look forward to this author’s books. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Historia
In the process of searching for Pinch, a long-lost mythic figure who has attained a talismanic status, Gibs has resorted to making a living doing contract work with his friend Alan, the young man who followed him out of the Wyoming commune. Hired by a family as escorts on a cross-country trip to Texas, they are ambushed by a group of raiders. The family is captured, children and all, and Gibs and Alan are left behind with only some pistols, a handful of bullets between them, and no food or water to speak of.

Revisado: 07-11-23
Gosh, Mr. Gayou blows me away again. This book picks up (sort of) where we left in Commune 4, but connects some dots to Commune 5.
Now I have to wait. Again. Until Commune 7 to really get where we are trying to go.

Historia
War heroes aren't usually called out of semi-retirement and sent to the far reaches of the galaxy for a routine investigation. So when Colonel Carl Butler answers the call from an old and powerful friend, he knows it's something big - and he's not being told the whole story. A high councilor's son has gone MIA out of Cappa Base, the space station orbiting a battle-ravaged planet. The young lieutenant had been wounded and evacuated - but there's no record of him having ever arrived at hospital command.

To me, this is an instant classic
Revisado: 06-26-23
This has to be the fourth time I’ve listened to this book, and I cannot believe I haven’t left a review yet.
This like here is to try and help ExFor (Expeditionary Force by Craig Alanson) readers find this book. There are Easter Eggs in ExFor in this book you didn’t even know existed until you listen in.
To me, this is an instant classic. The story is a mystery reminiscent of the Hardy Boys (huh, we do have a Hardy in here….) or Nancy Drew wrapped in a sci-fi setting that does so well of giving you the context without having to dive into the super techs realm. The techy stuff is often where sci-fi gets bogged down. Too much focus on that and you lose focus on the actual story being spun.
Carl Butler is Nancy Drew’s crusty Uncle with a serious drinking problem, and he is what makes the story go. You really feel like you are inside his mind, unraveling the mystery here one chapter at a time. Very well done.
Also, his drinking problem seems to be contagious. In fact, I might go have myself a glass of Ferra 3 (the twelve year) right now.
Cheers.

Great insight into the mind of a young officer
Revisado: 07-30-22
This book is another great novel written by Michael Mammay. Something I think that all young people in leadership should read.
The idea of young officer having a greater level of command thrust upon them has been done before, but this novel does such of good job of really going through both the good and the bad of that. It’s not a fairly tail of the young officer that performs like an experienced general. It’s a realistic take on the successes and mistakes. The self doubts of not even being close to experienced to make the correct decisions. The thought processes of learning from those mistakes. And it does this without being a whiny mess of self pity.
I know it’s the title of the book, but it really does help you to understand the “Weight of Command.”

Revisado: 07-16-22
What a fun ride we are along for in another fabulous installment by Dean M Cole. Chocked full of action, adventure, and you know it: one liners by BOb.
Y’all better brace yourselves for this one, it’s ends with a heckofuh of hangover (cliffhanger? Idk I had one or the other). So buck up and strap in and prepare yourself.
PS- please provide more fixings on the addictive series. Thanks.

Start to new trilogy, not really a 4th book
Revisado: 03-30-22
This took me a long time to wrap my head around, and afterwards I began to enjoy the book more. That was about 3/4 of the way in. This book is a new start to a new trilogy, with some recurring character and a whole batch of new ones. By the end of the novel, the new perspective characters (4 in total, rather than all from Darrow) brought you in and I began to want to know more about them. Otherwise I was just disappointed the chapter wasn’t about Darrow.
With the new perspectives, the production company bought in 3 new orators to read the spectate perspectives. Tim Gerard Reynolds did a fantastic job, and I apologize to him for only giving this 2 stars in performance. The person who reads Lysanders perspective CANNOT stay the same volume to save his life. Constantly I would be having to MAX my audio on my headphones just to hear what he was saying only in the next sentence feel my ears bleed as he quadrupoles his output. Very obnoxious and I cannot believe the production company went with that as the final product.
Otherwise, enjoy.

Revisado: 08-03-21
A good book here by Mr. Chaney and Mr. Anspach.
I will say I had a lot of fun listening to this book, but I wasn’t as captured as I was with number one. Brody is baller, and loved the I am Number 5 references. That movie doesn’t get enough love.
As far as ‘80s action stars go, everyone is going to take Schwarzenegger or Stallone but I “Pitty the fool” that forgets Mr. T. I would also watch any old Jackie Chan karate films…. Legend of Drunken Master anyone?

Revisado: 05-16-21
This follow up to King’s League is another great book by this duo. They did work hard to keep it fresh. Albeit, the progression (levels and item advancement) was a bit lacking.
Hats off to you two and I will be awaiting the next one. Now to wait for your other book incoming, Wayward Galaxy 2.

Historia
With the failure of Hadley's Hope, Weyland-Yutani has suffered a devastating setback - the loss of the Aliens they aggressively sought to exploit. Yet there's a reason the Company has risen to the top of the food chain. True to form, they have a redundancy already in place: the facility known as "The Cold Forge". Remote station RB-232 has become their greatest asset in weaponizing the Xenomorphs. However, when Dorian Sudler is sent to RB-232 to assess their progress, he discovers that there's a spy aboard - someone who doesn't necessarily act in the company's best interests.

A solid meh
Revisado: 01-16-21
Warning: Spoiler ahead.
I hard a hard time with this book. Was more to the horror side of the Alien books than to the more action driven side. The story of the book was just weak, and I think that was due to the characters of the book. The villain was a top of the line POS person. Dorian is an egotistical prick that we spend way too much time in his head. He’s a despicable person who dominates and murders the other survivors in the book, and I really don’t care to know his feeling about how high he is getting killing these people. It only depends our understanding that he is a sick and horrible man.
And the heroine, was not that great of a heroine. She is also an egotistical jerk, but she’s just the opposite physically as Dorian. She kind of just keeps getting bailed out of her problem situations.
The book makes it seem like a big deal that the station was sabotaged, but the solving of that mystery comes to a very anticlimactic resolution. We are just told, and it has no outcome on the end or escape of the dying station. Just not tied in well.
Book just lacks some luster. Good voice performance. Just poor characters and poor development.
