best of the series, the end really closed up every single thing except she could continue with Riot if she wanted to stay within the world for another series

Historia
For ten years, I lived in a gilded cage inside King Midas's golden castle. One night changed everything. Now I'm here, a prisoner of Fourth Kingdom's army, and I'm not sure if I'm going to make it out of this in one piece. They're marching to battle, and I'm the bargaining chip that will either douse the fire or spark a war.

finally!
Revisado: 03-16-25
this book really took the series off for me! everything I feel like I needed answered in the first book gets answered in this book. fmc drives me nuts with her toxic trauma bond but the rest of the characters make up for it and she eventually gets her shot together so all in all glad I stuck it out through the first book

weak ending
Revisado: 03-09-25
the premise was good and characters weren't spared from the story, main characters died, the secrets were good and the twists were surprising, but it was hard to tell when men were talking. the mmc has a little Irish (?) girls voice which made the love interest fall flat for me. you don't really get told all the details so by the time I got to the end, with only an hour left, I was wondering how they were going to sum the story up.. usually I like Holly Black I've read a lot of her books. this one just fell really short of her normal work. maybe it would've been better if I would've read it, but I'm not really interested in trying anymore of the " modern fairytale" stories...

nice conclusion to series
Revisado: 03-06-25
a lot of the plot is predictable if you're paying attention but there's good secrets and interesting ways of collaborating the mortal world to the fae world. love the witches magic and the magic market. good world building, weak love story though

wow had to hang onto this one
Revisado: 12-03-24
plot build up for ¾ of the book but by the end they had me. will read the next one but if it starts too slow again I'll probably give up. good once you get to the end, but not worth dragging through 70 chapters until it's really good for the whole series
