Emotional and powerful
Revisado: 02-15-22
With The Pagan Lord the emotional depth and narrative cohesion of the series achieves a new level, with the story arc of Uhtred becoming more filled out and mature. It is also the first book from which the television series appears to substantially depart from the tone and meaning of the books. As good as the tv version is, The Pagan Lord version of the Saxon hero is darker, more purposeful, more empathetic and craftier. Thankfully he also spends considerably less time in “the slough of despair”….

Historia
In the best-selling tradition of Truman, two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer David Herbert Donald offers a new classic in American history and biography - a masterly account of how one man's extraordinary political acumen steered the Union to victory in the Civil War, and of how his soaring rhetoric gave meaning to that agonizing struggle for nationhood and equality.

A masterful history of a great person
Revisado: 03-20-21
A no fuss narration of a meticulous and moving record of one of history’s most significant people. The unwillingness of the author to shy away from Lincoln’s inevitable weaknesses and moral contradictions only helps to lend the account a credibility and balance which beautifully illuminates the subject’s great personality and deeds.
