Historia
Early morning, August 1975: a camp counselor discovers an empty bunk. Its occupant, Barbara Van Laar, has gone missing. Barbara isn’t just any thirteen-year-old: she’s the daughter of the family that owns the summer camp and employs most of the region’s residents. And this isn’t the first time a Van Laar child has disappeared. Barbara’s older brother similarly vanished fourteen years ago, never to be found.

A bit convoluted but engaging
Revisado: 02-25-25
This story was a little difficult to keep track of with the many different characters. I had to backtrack a few times to get the story right. But overall it was ambitious and interesting. And as a fellow Temple University grad, I say well done!!

Historia
Savannah Webster is trying to find her way forward. She and her husband, Hez, have been separated since tragedy tore them apart and he began numbing his grief and guilt with alcohol. She returned to Tupelo Grove University, which her family helped found over a century ago, to teach history. When Hez turns up in her classroom asking for a second chance, she rejects the idea immediately. But twenty-four hours later she’s under suspicion for murder, and since Hez is the best attorney she knows, she reluctantly asks him for help.

Too religious with a whiny lead character
Revisado: 02-17-25
First book read by this author and will be the last. Ugh. I had so many eye rolls while listening to it. Lead woman was whiny and annoying. And the religious overtones were cringy.

Too short!
Revisado: 02-14-25
This book was too brief to develop into a great story. Characters were undeveloped as well as the plot line.

Too convoluted for my reading pleasure
Revisado: 02-05-25
This story could’ve been told in five books, not 10. It is way too convoluted with too many moving parts. One should not need a notebook and pen to make notes in order to keep track of what’s going on in the storyline. I love Brian Sanderson‘s work….until now. BS had lots of help writing this book with people keeping track of things and storylines and characters for him. I’m reading alone. I don’t have a hoard of people to keep me on point.

Historia
Being on the murder squad is nothing like Detective Antoinette Conway dreamed it would be. Her partner, Stephen Moran, is the only person who seems glad she's there. The rest of her working life is a stream of thankless cases, vicious pranks, and harassment. Antoinette is savagely tough, but she's getting close to the breaking point. Their new case looks like yet another by-the-numbers lovers' quarrel gone bad. Aislinn Murray is blond, pretty, groomed to a shine, and dead in her catalogue-perfect living room, next to a table set for a romantic dinner.

Too long
Revisado: 12-15-24
The story went on way too long and I struggled to keep interested. The female murder detective was over the top angry at everyone. The end wrapped up nicely but I’m more relieved it’s finally finished than I am satisfied. The narrator was terrible and did not do the accents well at all. The story may have been easier to listen to had it been someone different telling the story.

Religious undertones interfered with the story
Revisado: 10-27-24
This novel was almost a cookie cutter story from another book by this author. This one, however, had religious undertones that I did not like at all. It was enough that the story unfolded almost exactly like another one by this author but the added religious undertones were a complete turnoff. Not sure I’m going to bother reading anymore from this author.

Narrator is way too effusive!!
Revisado: 10-26-24
The story was OK, not great. But it went from OK to this is driving me nuts because of the narrator. The narrator would scream adjectives and was just way too much of everything! I’m going to remember his name and make sure I don’t download a book that he’s narrating.

Long boring and unsatisfying ending
Revisado: 10-18-24
Book was way too long to the point where I couldn’t wait for it to end and I didn’t care who did what. Finally, the ending. It was abrupt and unsatisfying. This book is definitely a miss. Don’t waste your time!

Historia
Dragons Riders: The last noble warriors in the realm. Only heroes can embolden the ordinary. For centuries, millennia, the Dragon Riders galvanized generation after generation, adding Riders to their ranks and birthing dragons from their eggs. But there are no more heroes. War with the Andarens is like nothing the Riders, nor the armies of Erador, have ever faced. In the place of heroes, there are only soldiers now. Fodder for the machine of war. This time of twilight is set to be the crowning hour of the dark when the light is losing its grip.

Difficult to follow!
Revisado: 09-23-24
This story was made more difficult to follow because I believe the author tried to do something different by having the story in the present but then going back to tell the pre-story. There were a lot of names to keep straight and I almost gave up a couple of times. Not sure I have the stamina to deal with the second book in the series.

The narration spoiled the story!
Revisado: 09-05-24
I didn’t care for the narrator at all, especially the last 45 minutes of the book. She was way over the top and I had difficulty listening to it. Truly cringe worthy. Story was OK. I would never pay a credit for it. I think I only paid $1.99 or $3.99. I can’t recommend it but I also can’t say don’t get it.
