Disappointed
Revisado: 04-14-19
I have been a huge fan of Allen Eskers from the time I read his first book. Then I read all of his books after. This book is truly a sequel to the first book The lives we burry. I was so excited when it was released, but I almost stopped listening like 10 times. I don't even know how to describe what is wrong with it, but it is very disappointing book. Jo does so many things that go against everything in first book, also there is so much unrealistic stuff in it that its kind of nauseating. The only reason I finished reading it is because I was hoping it will get better and because I already paid money for it. I hate listening to books almost out of obligation because I paid for it and unfortunately this was the book that I suffered through.

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

So the story is interesting, but its read by narrator that is very nice, he would me more fit to read children stories vs this murder story. I just couldn't get past this discrepancy of story and narration. Did not finish.

I absolutely loved this audiobook. very interesting, i felt like i went on an adventure with them.
The only thing I didn't like is how 13 years old girl has mentality of probably old women. Kids don't think like that, even many adults don't think like that.

I thought it would be such an awesome book based on description, but no. I can't stand it, this analysis of sort of everything. Every action is put on hold while it's being analyzed. Reader/listener has no chance to even think. It;s like food that has been chewed for you. Returning.

just ok

Narration is very flat lined, story is just ok when compared to Addy or Kit. I don't like the fact that she doesn't listen to her parents so frequently, don't want kids to listen to that.

mixed feelings
Revisado: 10-28-17
I love American Girl, but in this book, I feel like there are areas that I disagree with. For example, Kristen pretty much burns down their house and there is no punishment no nothing. Really? I just can't comprehend teaching this to kids. Or her inability to memorize one sentence of poem? Additionally, narration was so flat line, I barely survived.
