I truly liked this book. Coming from Utah it was very interesting to hear about places like Salt Air, and other locations and events in Utah. Good narration too.

I think this could be a really good story except that the writing was so erratic that I just had a hard time finishing the book.

Revisado: 06-13-22
Sorry to to say this because I usually like K.A. Tucker but this story was just boring and so full of teen age angst I couldn't take anymore. I don't mind a YA novel if the story is good but just couldn't get into this one. Sorry I wasted a credit on it since Audible doesn't accept returns anymore.

I wanted to like this but I just can't say I did.
Revisado: 06-11-21
The author keeps trying to find out who he is, but he does it at the cost of the family he already has. As a person who was also abandoned as a less than a year old child I can relate to some of the angst he feels. My parents left me in a boarding house to be found later by the owner. Though I actually grew up knowing who my parents were, it didn't help me establish an identity with them. I was rejected by one set of grandparents and raised by another set who were extremely angry that they had to do it so I was berated and abused my entire life. I left at age 17 and was determined that I would not subject my future family to my abhorrent childhood. I could not conceive of searching for answers instead of taking care of my responsibilities to my husband and children. I still do not know why my parents decided to let me go but I feel like I probably would have had a worse life if it hadn't have happened. The whiney tone of this book almost made me quit several times, a person is who they make themselves out to be - not who their parents are.

One of my Robyn Carr favorites
Revisado: 03-27-21
Apparently when publishers change, so does the ability to leave reviews on the book under the new publisher. I got this book back when it was under the Recorded Books label, now it has been re-issued and I can't leave a review under the new publisher. This sucks, as it is still the same book. Anyway, I love this book and the narrator. If you can listen to the last chapter without crying, you are made of sterner stuff than I am. We get off track from the main characters being in the lead to being supporting in this book. But there is so much that happens that leads to what is in the future of the series that you don't want to miss it.

The female lead is just not likable.
Revisado: 08-13-20
Sorry, but I am just getting tired of female leads who are so selfish or so stuck in their own heads that they are not nice people. This could have been a very enjoyable story except for Katie. Are there really women so shallow? It is all I can do to finish the book.

Sorry Kristen, this one just didn't do it for me.
Revisado: 02-28-20
I have loved most of the books Kristen has written and have listened to them many times. That makes it all the more disappointing to not even make it through this book. Too many POV's , convoluted storyline and I can't stand it when an author takes whatever is the current politically correct agenda and weaves it into the book, while putting down readers who just don't agree and blowing their disagreement out of proportion.

Historia
Edward Fasbender is a devil. He’s my father's biggest rival. He takes what he wants, and he bows to no one. And now Edward Fasbender wants me. I didn’t expect to want him back. Having him is not in the cards, not when a union with him would destroy my father. But that doesn’t mean I can’t play with him a bit. Except, I’ve never played against such a ruthless opponent. Edward is cold and vicious, and my blood has never run hotter. They say you should choose the devil you know, but I've always preferred long odds. Even if it'll get me slain.

Manipulative people just turn me off
Revisado: 11-28-19
I dislike writing negative reviews but felt I need to warn others who feel like it do. I made it about 4 hours into this story and just quit. Maybe in the end this woman becomes a redeemable soul but I cannot stand stories about people who manipulate others for their own enjoyment, especially calling it a "game". The female character so far is a shallow, insensitive, spoiled little rich girl who justifies her actions because someone else played her. Sorry, no sympathy from me. I like my characters to have some depth, some real meaning to their lives.

Really like this book
Revisado: 07-28-18
I find myself thinking about this book every time I hear the song "Sister Christian", in fact I downloaded it to add to my music. The elevator scene in this book is awesome! Anyway, I like the book because in spite of the fact it deals with some very serious subjects, it doesn't make you depressed. The slow burn is one of Mia Sheridan's standard writing tactics and she does it excellently in this book.

Didn't care at all for this book
Revisado: 07-23-18
Sorry to those who might have liked this book but I found it intolerable, so much so that 5 hours into it I am returning it. When it first started I thought it was going to be a good book but the longer I went on the less I liked it. Most of the characters are so one sided and hateful that it just wasn't enjoyable.
