As a quilter I devoured the authors Elm Creek Quilters series. In fact I loved them so much I was reluctant to listen/read her other novels. Well, I'm now more than ready to listen/read her historical novels -- indeed to devour them.

I've read/listened to a lot of Grisham 's books and I invariably enjoy them. This one one was good, but I didn't feel it was his best.

Good Mystery

For some reason I avoid stories of serial killers but I did enjoy this mystery. Toward the end I had some suspicions of how it might end, but the end had a twist that went so much farther than I anticipated. the book kept my interest.

Good book about an interesting time in history

this is the 2nd book I've either read or listened to about the "book women" of Kentucky. I've enjoyed learning about a time in our history of which I was unaware. I am grateful to the women who participated in this service. Their stories are inspiring.

wonderful, moving book

The characters in the book are honest and powerful in their humanity during a difficult time in history. The author does an excellent job of showing how people ended up on the side they chose or was chosen for them by birth, circumstances or their own informed choice.

Moving! Shocking! Informative! Challenging!

Because I have listened to other books by Mark Owens and Delia Owens, I was happy to use one of my credits to purchase this book. It did not disappoint! Whether you have a deep interest in animals and nature or not I recommend the book because for those of us who will never spend a great deal of time near the wildlife of the African continent, it introduces us to and describes a life that is important to understand.

This is a GREAT BOOK!!!!

I have read or listened to a lot of Kristin Hannah's books. The first one was The Nightingale which I continue to believe is one of the best books I've ever read. It continues to impact my life. Since reading it I've appreciated some of her books more than others but none as much as The Nightingale -- until now! I believe The Four Winds is the same caliber. Like The Nightingale it is an historical novel (in truth my favorite books by Hannah are her historical novels.). This one is about a time my parents lived through and though they didn't go to California my grandparents were Kansas farmers. I personally experienced the strength of the generation who lived through this difficult time. I give this book my highest recommendation. It is not only an excellent book about the Dust Bowl days, it has elements that speak to issues of our current time in history.

Nice story but not the author's best

The story was nice but nothing special and I have to admit for me the premise in the end was a bit to much for me. I've read a lot of her books and consider some among the best I've ever read, but this one is just ok.

Great Book

I've heard good things about this book for awhile. Glad I finally got it and listened to it. loved the story. loved the performance. I highly recommend this book. While listening to the book I sometimes found myself laughing out loud -- at other quietly weeping. So -- so good!
