Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

Bobiverse winding down
Revisado: 11-18-22
I listen to this series with my husband and we both enjoy the narrator. However, I struggled with finishing the book. The pacing seemed a bit off and the reveal / twist at the end was just okay.
The storyline has shifted from one of outward discovery of the universe to one of personal discovery and development. In moments the first generations of Bob's realize they need people of different backgrounds to solve problems or they have difficulty with personal emotions that they may want to work on instead of running away. That is a different book and journey than the past three Bobiverse books. it's admirable the author is trying it here. Maybe the fifth book with be better.

In the final volume of The Berrybender Narratives, Tasmin and her family are under arrest in Mexican Santa Fe. Tasmin, who would once have followed her husband anywhere, is no longer even sure she likes him, or where to go next. Captain Clark, of Lewis and Clark fame, is puzzled by the great changes sweeping over the West, replacing red men and buffalo with towns and farms.

unusual western
Revisado: 08-19-18
I found the entire series enjoyable. Particularly the fact that it was done from the viewpoint of a woman and the long periods of waiting that were required. I enjoyed that it traveled huge swaths of the West and included historical characters even though historical facts had been ignored in favor of plot. The main characters started off somewhat dislikable and difficult to endure but you came to love them in the end as they had to endure and change in order to survive.

excellent review
Revisado: 01-16-18
Having the privilege of an open archives and the temperance of time after a person's death, the author has been able to create an even handed biography of this interesting architect, and his creations. while also including the opinions of his critics and the voices of the people who supported him.

It's not his best work. however it is enlightening and thoughtful. Jon approaches his work and subjects with a genuine nonjudgemental open curiosity that I find wonderful.

On a damp October night, beautiful young Ashley Cordova is found dead in an abandoned warehouse in lower Manhattan. Though her death is ruled a suicide, veteran investigative journalist Scott McGrath suspects otherwise. As he probes the strange circumstances surrounding Ashley’s life and death, McGrath comes face-to-face with the legacy of her father: the legendary, reclusive, cult-horror-film director Stanislas Cordova - a man who hasn’t been seen in public for more than 30 years.

ok use of tropes
Revisado: 08-12-17
the first half of the book is slow as they follow thier dark manic pixie girl trope through the book. The second half is better, and I appreciate the life and world of the fictional movie producer the author created.

A meandering road trip
Revisado: 08-08-17
It is a good read, but the story can be slow and the main character isn't fleshed out well. I'd completely forgotten his wife and that he'd been in jail. He has no desires or wants, he is a shadow of a person.
What is wonderful about the book are the locations and descriptions of the places Shadow visits; the stories of the gods and immigrants. Those portions make the book worthwhile. I absolutely recommended visiting the House on the Rock. Its in the 'driftless' area of WI and there are Wright houses nearby so the whole trip is worth it.
I read the book when it first came out and, as a casual reader, cannot tell much of a difference between the 1st and 10th anniversary editions.

Historia
In 1979, a secret unit was established by the most gifted minds within the US Army. Defying all known accepted military practice - and indeed, the laws of physics - they believed that a soldier could adopt the cloak of invisibility, pass cleanly through walls and, perhaps most chillingly, kill goats just by staring at them. Entrusted with defending America from all known adversaries, they were the First Earth Battalion. And they really weren't joking. What's more, they're back and fighting the War on Terror.

How to Stop War
Revisado: 06-08-17
I love listening to Jon Ronson he does an excellent job narrating. I've listenened to this book twice now, there are a lot of people and stories throughout to keep track of, so I got more out of it the second time.
The idea that some members of the armed forces are trying new age mind control or other psychological warfare isn't hard to believe. The army is a huge organization tasked to defend against any and all attacks against America. Trying to think out of the box will get you some successes and some goat staring.
