Historia
Rosemary and Peter Grant and those assisting them have spend 20 years on Daphne Major, an island in the Galapagos, studying natural selection. They recognize each individual bird on the island, when there are 400 at the time of the author's visit or when there are over a thousand. They have observed about 20 generations of finches - continuously.Jonathan Weiner follows these scientists as they watch Darwin's finches and come up with a new understanding of life itself.

Historia
As the United States marks the 150th anniversary of our defining national drama, 1861 presents a gripping and original account of how the Civil War began. 1861 is an epic of courage and heroism beyond the battlefields. Early in that fateful year, a second American revolution unfolded, inspiring a new generation to reject their parents' faith in compromise and appeasement, to do the unthinkable in the name of an ideal.

Learned a lot of new information on such an important year in USA’s history. Hopefully 1861 will be remembered as the year of the start of the second phase of the American Revolution.

Great Telling of a Dark Period in Human History
Revisado: 05-09-23
Shirer not only used original source materials but was an original source himself having lived in Hitler’s Germany in the period before the US entry into WW2. Fortunately today’s (2023)Germany has come to terms with its past and has taken responsibility for its actions. Modern Germany’s approach to confronting their past is in sharp contrast with Japan where many still think of themselves as victims instead of former totalitarian aggressors.

Historia
On August 10, 1632, five men in flowing black robes convened in a somber Roman palazzo to pass judgment on a deceptively simple proposition: that a continuous line is composed of distinct and infinitely tiny parts. With the stroke of a pen the Jesuit fathers banned the doctrine of infinitesimals, announcing that it could never be taught or even mentioned. The concept was deemed dangerous and subversive, a threat to the belief that the world was an orderly place, governed by a strict and unchanging set of rules.

Great history of Europe during the seventeen century within the framework of the introduction of the infinitesimal e.g. the tool of calculus. The role mathematics played in the struggle between religions was fascinating.
