Historia
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

Reader hard to listen to
Revisado: 08-18-24
There is a lot of intense dualogue. The reader acts it out with the understandable anger and frustration of the characters. Often, wearing ear phones, my ears were suddenly assaulted with the volume of angry, commanding dialogue. To make it worse the reader even read 3d person text that wasn't dialogue in the same angry tone. I got through the book slowly but to the end. I love Michael Crichton's books but this was my least likeable.

Terrible narrator
Revisado: 08-12-24
The cadence of speech by this narrator is rapid, halting, inappropriately dramatic at times, and very difficult to listen to. Add to that, the story is not comparable to Grisham's earlier writings, difficult to follow enough to put me to sleep and then be lost when I return to the story.

Revisado: 06-28-24
Comey makes them likeable heros. His storytelling reflects his keen intelligence and superb attention to detail from years in law enforcement as well as his ethics and capacity for loving kindness.

Jack investigates—against the warnings of the police and his own editor—and makes a shocking discovery that connects the crime to other mysterious deaths across the country. Undetected by law enforcement, a vicious killer has been hunting women, using genetic data to select and stalk his targets.

Intense plot that moves slowly.
Revisado: 04-10-22
The narrator does a good job at characters' voices but the narrator's cadence is monotonous and like someone reading the minutes of a boring meeting. I found it tedious.

Historia
For all of neuroscience's advances, we've made little progress on its biggest question: How do simple cells in the brain create intelligence? Jeff Hawkins and his team discovered that the brain uses map-like structures to build a model of the world - not just one model, but hundreds of thousands of models of everything we know. This discovery allows Hawkins to answer important questions about how we perceive the world, why we have a sense of self, and the origin of high-level thought.

Full of fascinating information on the brain and neurology. If I'd had no science or anatomy background I'd have more trouble keeping up than I did, but it's worth going over some of it again. I'm retired and curious, so no hurry to absorb it all.

What is human consciousness, and how is it possible? This question fascinates thinking people from poets and painters to physicists, psychologists, and philosophers. From Bacteria to Bach and Back is Daniel C. Dennett's brilliant answer, extending perspectives from his earlier work in surprising directions, exploring the deep interactions of evolution, brains, and human culture.

Fascinating, not for novices
Revisado: 08-03-21
There is great content in this but the vocabulary (erudite and technical) is not every day speech, and choice of examples to elaborate are vague and lack color. Side stories with real people and events would make it easier for someone not educated in the sciences it covers. But the scientific information is quite exciting.
