Audible is making a mistake to discontinue the NYT digest. I look forward to it every day. Maybe it’s time to switch to another service.

One of the best "Great Courses" I have listened to!
- De Nicole en 12-15-15
As the world turns
Revisado: 10-07-17
Another great course from my favorite lecturer of the Great Courses, Professor Liulevicius. His captive storytelling and thought provoking examinations kept me as entertained as informed. My only criticism of this course is that in almost every lecture, 30 minutes could not give proper justice to each topic and often led to intense over summarization.

Awesome lecture series
Revisado: 11-26-16
I learned a tremendous amount from Professor Liulevicius and the wealth of material he delivered. Although the he's not among my favorite orators that the Great Courses offers, he is perhaps one of the best course designers. He did a great job of tying his narratives of exploration into the greater narratives of history that most of us are familiar. For its entertainment level, at times it felt more like travel literature than a lecture.

One of the best
Revisado: 09-26-16
This is definitely one of the best lecture series from the Great Courses. Professor Stoler is also one of my favorite lecturers. Skeptics guide to American History is also great.

Equally informative and enjoyable
Revisado: 04-17-16
I Loved these lectures! Professor Wysession is straight-forward no non-sense in his approach to lecturing. I learned a great deal from this series and it's definitely one of my favorite from the Great Courses. I like how Prof. Wysession called the recent wars out for what they are really about, not religion or democracy but energy and the fierce competition for dominance. Nothing new about that in the sense of history but while we are comfortable within our high-tech bubbles we tend to forget how desperately dependent we are on the politics and business of energy.

Good book but terrible audiobook
Revisado: 11-15-15
The book is well written for immediate understanding of how to apply the process. The SHIFT method is well thought out and of sound reasoning. The audiobook is terrible, the narrator even though he sounds like he belongs on talk radio gave an awful performance trying to bring it life he actually out it to death. The author performance the introduction and was much better, should have been her for the entire book.

Historia
In AD 200, the Roman Empire seemed unassailable, its vast territory accounting for most of the known world. By the end of the fifth century, Roman rule had vanished in Western Europe and much of northern Africa, and only a shrunken Eastern Empire remained. This was a period of remarkable personalities, from the philosopher-emperor Marcus Aurelius to emperors like Diocletian, who portrayed themselves as tough, even brutal, soldiers.

Excellent listen and an entertainingly informative read
Revisado: 11-14-15
Goldsworthy and Perkins are absolutely the best duo in sound literature and the primary source of my happiness with the Audible product. The only sad part for me is there are no more titles to read. I've listened to Caesar, Augustus and now finally How Rome Fell one after the other in a continuous high of wonderfully engaging material underneath an award winning spoken performance.

Historia
Caesar Augustus's story, one of the most riveting in western history, is filled with drama and contradiction, risky gambles and unexpected success. He began as a teenage warlord, whose only claim to power was as the heir of the murdered Julius Caesar. Mark Antony dubbed him "a boy who owes everything to a name," but in the years to come the youth outmaneuvered all the older and more experienced politicians and was the last man standing in 30 BC.

Fantastic reading (listening) experience!
Revisado: 10-25-15
After listening to Caesar I couldn't get enough. Adrian Goldsworthy does it again and even exceeded his previous book with this one. He manages to convey a post-graduate class hidden within the joy of reading a novel. I can't wait to read How Rome Fell and honestly I would listen to the Oxford Dictionary if it were read by Derek Perkins, he is the very best narrator in my opinion.
