Historia
In one bloody night, three of Washington’s most powerful politicians are executed with surgical precision. Their assassins then deliver a shocking ultimatum to the American government: set aside partisan politics and restore power to the people. No one, they warn, is out of their reach—not even the president. A joint FBI-CIA task force reveals the killers are elite military commandos, but no one knows exactly who they are or when they will strike next.

Wow! Can this really happen?
Revisado: 03-06-18
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Excellent writing with a critical eye on the wielding of power by men who have their own agendas. Maybe a hint as to how our current government operates.
What did you like best about this story?
The plot was well thought out and articulated. The characters were quite varied, and in a few cases, totally unbelievable and quite scary. My optimism wants to think we have congressmen and an administration who have the best interest for our country; but this book drives home that these men and women can be very power hungry.
Which scene was your favorite?
When the National Security Advisor and Chief of Staff get their come-uppance.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. Hard to wait to see how the story would end.
Any additional comments?
Narrator was excellent. His voice variations really helped to understand the conversations, especially when several characters were involved.

Historia
Thomas Brennan travels around the world where, as an archeologist, he sifts through history in an attempt to find validation of his Catholic faith. When proof is uncovered that authenticates two infamous icons of Christianity, the Shroud of Turin and the Sudarium of Oviedo, anticipation abounds, until a third, more monumental piece of evidence is unearthed. Also involved is the silent strong arm of the Church, Custodis Veritas, as well as someone in the FBI's Witness Protection Program who is about to turn state's evidence on a vicious, notorious mafia capo.

Interesting
Revisado: 03-06-18
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The plot was interesting with the weaving of fact with fiction. Unfortunately, it takes a familiarity with the subject to distinguish between the two. No, I was never "on the edge of my seat," but was curious how the book would end.
How could the performance have been better?
The narrator needs improving. He sniffled regularly throughout the reading; stumbled in places like his reading was faster than his spoken word; and there was an annoying hum in the background like a computer fan running. These things really affected my enjoyment of the book.

Historia
A put-upon assistant at a prestigious London art house, Judith Rashleigh is well-educated, well-groomed, and impeccably behaved - keeping the darker desires she indulges on nights off as her own little secret. But when Judith uncovers a dangerous heist, her life is shattered and she’s forced to run. Armed with just her wits and a talent for self-invention, she makes her way from the French Riviera to Geneva, Rome, and the nightclubs of Paris, determined to take back what is rightfully hers.

Definitely not a favorite of mine
Revisado: 07-12-16
What about Emilia Fox’s performance did you like?
The various accents and character voices were terrific. This was the one bright aspect for this book--I'll keep her in mind when searching for other books.
Do you think Maestra needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Not for me, it doesn't.
Any additional comments?
The author had the potential of a very good story here, but just too much graphic and gratuitous sex got in the way. Also, I came away with the feeling she was trying to impress the reader with her knowledge of fashion and high living. The portions given to art and the surrounding mystery had the potential for a real good read.

A fantastic look into 16th century French court life. The intrigues, manipulations, coercions, changing alliances, and reversals make for a larger than life historical story. The .pdf material was of great help in keeping up with the characters and events. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to all who are interested in history, and there is romance, heartbreak, and tragedy in here, too.

Very timely considering the current drought in the SW US. Starts quickly, a variety of characters, excellent narration, and full of possibilities. The book is depressing in its descriptions of the effects of water shortages and human conditions.

Interesting beginning and story line, but then about 2/3s through it gets really hokey! Too bad the author didn't stick to a more believable twist.

Interesting with some surprises along the way. A very easy book to listen to; the story moves right along and keeps the interest, although at a time or 2 the coincidences that happen seem a little far fetched. Very enjoyable.

A terrific read/listen. Sooner or later a collapse of this country is coming and this is one scenario. Gets the attention immediately and well thought out. My only complaint is the author spent way too much time in detailing all the guns/ammo/accessories and the details in improvising weapons, To me (who isn't into guns) this was more of a distraction from the story that is otherwise very thought provoking.

Marie-Laure lives with her father in Paris near the Museum of Natural History, where he works as the master of its thousands of locks. When she is six, Marie-Laure goes blind and her father builds a perfect miniature of their neighborhood so she can memorize it by touch and navigate her way home. When she is 12, the Nazis occupy Paris and father and daughter flee to the walled citadel of Saint-Malo, where Marie-Laure’s reclusive great-uncle lives in a tall house by the sea. With them they carry what might be the museum’s most valuable and dangerous jewel.

Very interesting how divergent characters can interplay to make a such a story. It's a little like real life perhaps. The only problem is the back and forth in time makes it a little difficult to keep up with the characters and their individual situations at that moment. Thoroughly enjoyable though!

Historia
Two armed men board a 727 that has been all but forgotten at an airfield in Angola. Hijacking the jet, they then slit the throat of the lone crew and fly to parts unknown. The consternation is immediate, as the CIA, FBI, and other agencies race to find out what happened, in the process elbowing one another in the sides a little too vigorously. Fed up, the president of the United States turns to an outside investigator to determine the truth.
