Historia
The Church of Armes of the Light has battled the forces of Darkness for as long as anyone can remember. The great prophecy has foretold that a band of misfits, led by a high priestess will defeat the Dark Lord Darvezian, armed with their wits, the blessing of the Light and an artifact stolen from the merciless Spider Queen. Their journey will be long, hard and fraught with danger. Allies will become enemies; enemies will become allies. And the Dark Lord will be waiting, always waiting…

Revisado: 11-22-24
I live everything Adrian writes because of the complexity but also possibility of the story. This story has all that plus some great humor as well. highly recommend!

Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

Why he changed up the narrator I'll never under
Revisado: 03-17-22
I really enjoyed this series quite a bit, but it was almost ruined in the final book by the new narrator. Not only did she read too slowly and her different voices were insufferable but that wasn't even the worst part. The pronunciation of the names wasn't even the same! I mean come on couldn't you even have done the slightest bit of research before you started reading the book? if I had to hear her pronounce Gaston's name "GAS-TON" One more time I probably would have knocked off another star. Perhaps Sigler got a really good deal on this author or something... but man almost ruined an entire series to save a few bucks... other than that the storyline was pretty good.

Avoid the first story
Revisado: 02-08-22
Very mixed bag of stories. Helped pass the time but not much else. You'll be frustrated after spending all the time on the first story with it's abrupt and anti-climatic ending. Other than that one the rest of the stories were decent enough to listen to.

Historia
Here is Trump in action—how he runs his organization and how he runs his life—as he meets the people he needs to meet, chats with family and friends, clashes with enemies, and challenges conventional thinking. But even a maverick plays by rules, and Trump has formulated time-tested guidelines for success. He isolates the common elements in his greatest accomplishments; he shatters myths; he names names, spells out the zeros, and fully reveals the deal-maker's art. And throughout, Trump talks—really talks—about how he does it.

Trump bragging about his unethical path to riches
Revisado: 05-21-21
this book is essentially 10 hours of Trump bragging about how awesome he believes he is. I know many people see him as a successful businessman because of some of the money he's made in his career. However, I see a shady unethical character whose behavior is not necessarily to be celebrated. Owning two businesses myself I understand that it can be easier to get ahead if you put your conscience on the back burner and enact cutthroat tactics while only considering your own best interest. Though this may work to enrich certain individuals does it really make us better as a society? Is that how we want every business and business person to operate? The only reason America is as great as it is is because the majority of business owners are moral and ethical individuals and consider the entire picture not just their own selfish ends. I will agree with many of the reviewers in that you can see how Trump ran the presidency during his years in office always with his own interests in mind...

Historia
A revolution brewing for generations has begun in fire. It will end in blood. The Free Navy - a violent group of Belters in black-market military ships - has crippled the Earth and begun a campaign of piracy and violence among the outer planets. The colony ships heading for the thousand new worlds on the far side of the alien ring gates are easy prey, and no single navy remains strong enough to protect them. James Holden and his crew know the strengths and weaknesses of this new force better than anyone.

some good info and lots of justification
Revisado: 05-14-19
First off I agree with other readers the zero vs hero thing was a disaster and came off as extremely insensitive and not accounting for different circumstances. Then I thought there was some really good science behind some of the chapters and then in some chapters silly ideas grasping for justification of certain behaviors. for example the chapter when they try and justify a woman's need to shop based on their ancient "gatherer" role in early human society.... laughable. Overall....eh. If you're a self absorbed asshole that treats woman like an object, than you might gain some valuable incite. But chances are men like that aren't the ones seeking this book out to read.

Hourglass is an inquiry into how marriage is transformed by time—abraded, strengthened, shaped in miraculous and sometimes terrifying ways by accident and experience. With courage and relentless honesty, Dani Shapiro opens the door to her house, her marriage, and her heart, and invites us to witness her own marital reckoning--a reckoning in which she confronts both the life she dreamed of and the life she made, and struggles to reconcile the girl she was with the woman she has become.

Story ok, but the monotone narration drove me craz
Revisado: 05-10-19
The story was ok, a little too much jumping around and random thought inserts (but I suppose that style has become pretty popular as of late). But the thing that stuck out the most was the author's monotone melancholy voice. I almost couldn't finish the book with how it was read. No voice fluctuations or change of pace or anything, just sad monotone all the way through. I wish I could blame this fault in the narrator, but the fact that the narrator is the author means she wanted it read in this fashion.... Poor choice. Even if I hadn't listened to the book (or if it had a different narrator) I still probably wouldn't recommend it. Not interesting enough for me, and a little too doom and gloom in style (or maybe it was just her voice that made it seem like that).

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

interesting story... but not super relevant for mo
Revisado: 05-17-18
the book was good with some intriguing stories and examples but I don't think many of the concepts were super relevant for many types of business. I'm an Artist selling high end fine art and I kept trying to insert many of these tactics into my typical negotiations and I just couldn't make them fit or see how they would be helpful. However, if I worked in corporate America or sold a more traditional essential item I think his techniques (and this book) would have been much more useful to me....
