Ancient history
Revisado: 08-12-21
Despite the August 2021 release date, turns out this is the audio version of a book that was written in 2013. So unless you have a time machine and can go back and acquire bitcoin in 2013, this audiobook has no value.
Favorite quote: "Some predict prices in the thousands, or even tens of thousands, per one bitcoin. I don't believe it is likely to ever achieve that amount of acceptance."

Historia
Tornadoes, cyclones, tsunamis… Weather can be deadly – especially when it strikes without warning. Millions of Americans could soon find themselves at the mercy of violent weather if the public data behind lifesaving storm alerts gets privatized for personal gain. In his first Audible Original feature, New York Times best-selling author and journalist Michael Lewis delivers hard-hitting research on not-so-random weather data – and how Washington plans to release it.

Why bother
Revisado: 04-08-19
I have enjoyed many of Michael Lewis' books. This one, however, strikes me as if he had spent all this time doing research and interviewing people only to discover there was no interesting story there. But since he had invested the time, he spit out a book.

Everything, well, almost everything, you know about American history is wrong because most textbooks and popular history books are written by left-wing academic historians who treat their biases as fact. But fear not; Professor Thomas Woods refutes the popular myths in The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History.

Who knew?
Revisado: 04-08-19
This is one of those rare books where, upon completion, you want to send copies to your friends on both the Right and the Left. Otherwise, you'll be spending your time slapping them upside the head as they continue to unwittingly spout the traditional fables of American history. While I consider myself fairly well read, this book is filled with information of which I was blissfully unaware--including those that occurred in my own lifetime.
My only real complaint is that the book, at least in the audio version, jumps right into colonial period without an introduction to explain how this book will be different from any history book you've ever read. A little bit of context would have been helpful.
The narration is fine but I personally could have done without the attempt to deliver the quotations in the accent of the original speakers. It falls somewhere between amusing and affected.
Overall, this is an excellent book and essential reading for anyone who wants to get the full story and not just the version that academia wants you to believe.

Historia
Scott Adams was one of the earliest public figures to predict Donald Trump’s election. The mainstream media regarded Trump as a lucky clown, but Adams - best known as “the guy who created Dilbert” - recognized a level of persuasion you only see once in a generation. We’re hardwired to respond to emotion, not reason, and Trump knew exactly which emotional buttons to push. The point isn’t whether Trump was right or wrong, good or bad. Adams goes beyond politics to look at persuasion tools that can work in any setting - the same ones Adams saw in Steve Jobs.

Revisado: 11-13-17
I loved this book. Scott takes you through the two years of the presidential campaign, with all its missteps and brilliant maneuvers, in a highly entertaining fashion. And, as a bonus, you also get valuable lessons in persuasion that could transform your life. Did you know that some people pay $25 million to buy a yacht? So do you want the hardcover or the audio book?

This is the best book I've read or listened to on negotiation. I've applied the concepts at work and in life and they work! It's also filled with great stories of actual life and death negotiations which make my wheeling and dealing seem like child's play.

Historia
In The Dorito Effect, Mark Schatzker shows us how our approach to the nation's number-one public health crisis has gotten it wrong. The epidemics of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes are not tied to the overabundance of fat or carbs. Instead we have been led astray by the growing divide between flavor - the tastes we crave - and the underlying nutrition.

What did you like best about this story?
This was a surprisingly entertaining book. I learned a lot about the flavor and food industries not to mention getting a better grasp on what we put in our bodies. If you enjoy Malcolm Gladwell's style of turning academic studies into great stories, you'll enjoy this book.

Historia
Forty years ago Israeli psychologists Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky wrote a series of breathtakingly original studies undoing our assumptions about the decision-making process. Their papers showed the ways in which the human mind erred systematically when forced to make judgments about uncertain situations. Their work created the field of behavioral economics, revolutionized Big Data studies, advanced evidence-based medicine, led to a new approach to government regulation, and made Michael Lewis' work possible.

What did you like about this audiobook?
Excellent story and well spoken. I was struck by the parallels between Andrew Jackson and Donald Trump as both battle not only the opposition party but also the establishment of their own party. Both also believe strongly in the rights of the states--but not at the expense of the Union.

Yes! This is a great book not only if you want to change your own habits but also to really understand what makes people tick. It's filled with interesting stories to get across the premise of the book and even has a "how to" guide at the end. But if you really want to adopt some good habits, or stop some bad ones, you'll have no excuses after listening to this book.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
If you get your news from MSNBC you'll feel right at home with this book. Every conservative is a racist or greedy or both. Texas' success is an accident of geography and certainly had nothing to do with any Republican policies in the last fifty years. And once the Hispanics become the majority, the Democrats can take over and lead Texas to the promise land.
