Historia
John Robinson seemed to have it all. A loving wife, two beautiful daughters, and a growing fortune in the 1800s banking industry. That was until a phantom killer slaughtered his family and escaped into the night. Before escaping, John faced his family's killer, but was left with only a distorted memory of who, or what, he saw. Plagued by nightmares of that horrific night, John abandons everything and embarks on a journey into the American West. He is chasing a mysterious and unknown killer on a quest for revenge.

Awesome story
Revisado: 03-08-22
I'm always a bit leery to use my credit on a book that hasn't been reviewed yet, but the description of this book and the sample caught my interest and I'm happy to say it was a credit very well spent. I loved the main characters, especially The Vaquero and his back story was amazing, it gave me goosebumps. I loved that he was a badass but not an over the top unbelievable type of badass. He was very much human in his choices and thoughts (if you get what i mean). I wish we could've followed John a bit during his early years of travel, this is not a complaint, but just a wish for more of the story. I'm always greedy for more when it's a great story and this was great. I don't want to give away anything but I'd call this a horror western with a dash of another genre in it. I wish there were more books in this category but this is one of those rare mixes of genre's that makes you want more but theres nothing else quite like it. Maybe ill get lucky and Mr Harnish will revisit this world one day. If you've read Little heaven by Nick Cutter and enjoyed it, you will like this book. This story was unique and i didnt feel like i was reading a rehashed version of another book. The author also narrated this book and he did an amazing job. Seriously, your narration rocked Mr Harnish and if you publish more books i hope you narrate them also. I will be eagerly watching for any other books this author puts out.

Historia
On a quiet seafront in the middle of the afternoon the sun sets, the clouds part and something like a pale, elongated human figure appears on the horizon. For Maria, watching from the beach, it’s proof that she should never have dared to return. Five years earlier, her life shattered by the arrival of the Stone Man, she’d fled the country. But now she can’t escape: suddenly, there are news reports of ‘Empty Men’ materialising all around the coast, and the roads are gridlocked. The Empty Men are killers, and they’re heading inland.

Excellent sequel
Revisado: 01-06-22
I loved the 1st The Stoneman book so I didn't even read the reviews and I was correct I loved The Empty Men just as much. If you enjoyed the 1st book you will be happy with this one too. The narrator is great, at 1st I was disappointed that it was someone other than the author narrating but I quickly got over it. I just think Mr Smitherd does a fabulous job at narrating his books, which in my humble opinion is a difficult job. I'm so happy I've found this author. I've read my favorite authors books 2+ times and was in a slump to find any books that really stood out to me and than I found "You See the Monster" and it was so amazing that I immediately read the rest of his books, saving The Stone man books for last. Luke Smitherd has quickly ascended my top 5 fav authors list and I can't wait to read more of what he writes. If you haven't read his other books...you should. The other one I mentioned is a good start and A head full of knives is great.

Amazing story I couldn't stop listening to.
Revisado: 12-08-21
I really enjoyed this story. Right from the 1st paragraph I was hooked and found every excuse to keep listening though I had really wanted to stretch the story out. I finished it in under 3 days, haha im an addict to great stories. It's kind of a mesh of Sci fi, thriller, love story and horror. I don't want to give away too much because I enjoyed finding out slowly what was happening along with the characters. This author has such unique stories and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with these characters. The author does such an amazing job of narrating I was amazed to find out this was his 1st time. If you want a story that will grab on to you and you won't want it to let go not even at the end this is it.

From the author of Audible #1 bestsellers In The Darkness, That's Where I'll Know You, The Physics of the Dead, and The Stone Man (shortlisted for the Audible Audiobook of the Year award 2015). Ever wished the world would revolve around you? Be careful what you wish for... Martin Hogan feels like he's being watched by everyone and everything, and doesn't know why. Even his pets are acting strangely. Each night he sees animals gathering outside his house in the darkness, staring up at his windows with glittering eyes.

Why haven't I found this author until now!!
Revisado: 12-06-21
This is my second Luke Smitherd book. I stumbled upon his newest book You See the Monster and was instantly enthralled. If you haven't read/listened to that one yet, do so now. Okay back to this books review. I've read and listened to tons of books over the years, so I've read alot and this authors books are so orginal. The characters and plot hook me from the go and I find myself doing chores longer, walking the dogs longer, and staying up later just so I can keep listening. The author narrates this book and he does an amazing job. I enjoy his humor in the afterword. I can't really explain anymore of the storyline than what's already in the description but if you want a orginal story that keeps you on the edge of your seat this book is it.
