Historia
When struggling riverboat captain Abner Marsh receives an offer of partnership from a wealthy aristocrat, he suspects something’s amiss. But when he meets the hauntingly pale, steely-eyed Joshua York, he is certain. For York doesn’t care that the icy winter of 1857 has wiped out all but one of Marsh’s dilapidated fleet. Nor does he care that he won’t earn back his investment in a decade. York has his own reasons for wanting to traverse the powerful Mississippi. And they are to be none of Marsh’s concern - no matter how bizarre, arbitrary, or capricious his actions may prove.

The book was good. Interesting. But the narration was wonderful. There was never a time one couldn't distinguish between characters.

Victoria McQueen has an uncanny knack for finding things: a misplaced bracelet, a missing photograph, answers to unanswerable questions. When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

Hard to finish
Revisado: 10-29-24
This story is pretty good. However, despite the author's love for Kate Mulgrew's performance, I have to say, in my opinion, she's one of the worst audiobook readers I've ever heard. I almost stopped listening several times. The story...you know...had to find out what happened...that's what kept me going.

Wasn't expecting to listen to an x-rated story.
Revisado: 03-24-24
I read the first book in the trilogy and loved it! Mistakenly thought this was the second book. While I really loved the story, I really, really could have done without the explicit sex scenes. Got so I fast forward thru them.
I'm going to read the second book now. Hope it's less x-rated.

Wonderful Series
Revisado: 12-31-23
I bought the first book. Finished it. Then bought the second. By that time I knew I wanted to read them all, so bought them all!
Loved almost everything. The only things I didn't like were the very long descriptions of actions, sequences, and things. Made my hair stand on end waiting to find out what happened.
The most aggravating thing was, I felt I was reading an adult series, but everytime the lead character stuck her tongue out at someone, I'd think to myself..."Wait. What? Is this a YA novel?"
Despite that, I did love the books.

Leon Uris retums to the land of his acclaimed best-seller Exodus for an epic story of hate and love, vengeance and forgiveness. The Middle East is the powerful setting for this sweeping tale of a land where revenge is sacred and hatred noble. Where an Arab ruler tries to save his people from destruction but cannot save them from themselves. When violence spreads like a plague across the lands of Palestine - this is the time of The Haj.
