Excellent read
Revisado: 02-10-25
A unique, unsettling take on being a new mother that was relatable and haunting. If you liked Rosemary’s Baby then you will love this. I’m pre-ordering this author’s next book immediately after I finish this review. I don’t want to give away any spoilers but this book kept me guessing until the end. It was a suspenseful and satisfying read.

Couldn’t stop listening
Revisado: 07-31-23
I listened to this all night until it was finished. It was fantastic. This is the first time I have read this author and it won’t be my last. I loved this book! it is a well written, thrilling, and intelligent read. Also the narrator was great and did not detract from the story but enhanced it as a good narrator should. It was well worth the Audible credit.

True Crime Horror
Revisado: 01-04-23
I didn’t realize this was a true crime story when I bought it which made it even more horrific to listen to. I couldn’t stop listening and it made me stay up all night. I should have taken breaks because it gave me nightmares. Very well written but a very sad story.

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

This is the best book I have read in a long time. Certainly worth an audible credit as it is so many hours of listening and I enjoyed every minute of it. The narrator was perfect.

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

I was sad when it ended.
Revisado: 08-23-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Gone Girl to be better than the print version?
I've only heard the audio.
What other book might you compare Gone Girl to and why?
Nothing, it is in a league of its own.
Which scene was your favorite?
Hard to choose.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Do you really know who you married?
Any additional comments?
This book is a mind f---. It is a twisted psychological thriller that makes you feel less sane after reading. The narrators were fantastic and the writing amazing.

Historia
Headstrong, high-spirited, and already widowed, Isabella Walker became Mrs. Henry Robinson at age 31 in 1844. Isabella chose to record her innermost thoughts - and especially her infatuation with a married Dr. Edward Lane - in her diary. One day Henry chanced on the diary and, broaching its privacy, read Isabella's entries. Aghast at his wife's perceived infidelity, Henry petitioned for divorce on the grounds of adultery. The trial would be a cause célèbre, threatening the foundations of Victorian society.

Almost fell asleep
Revisado: 08-23-12
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Real first person diary narratives. It was too subjective, someone narrating the history, than a small excerpt from a diary.
Would you ever listen to anything by Kate Summerscale again?
No
How did the narrator detract from the book?
She sounded older than the character.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Mrs. Robinson's Disgrace?
Listing the price of everything, houses, dresses etc. it was like a tax audit.
Any additional comments?
I did not finish the book. I tried to exchange for another one but it didn't work . I recently just found out about this a week ago and exchanged all the books I didn't finish/like narrator etc. so I am guessing there is a limit.
