the story development is paced very well and told from first person really creating the vision of being the main character.

the person performing the story is really good at capturing the writers feelings and intent. they really immerse your into this tale. I really like the perspective it's told from. the writer does very well to keep my attention.

Listen. I’m not asking for much. All I want is a well paced fantasy read by a person that understands what their job is - I.E. a professional narrator, making money off of their ability to interpret written words on a piece of paper and then audibly deliver them in a believable performance, for listeners to enjoy.

This ain’t it, sis.

I somehow managed to grind my way through 19 hours of this story before couldn’t take it anymore. The accents are terrible, the story is boring, I don’t know what the author did to get this story onto Audible and I don’t know what the narrator was thinking when he decided that a mixture of German/Austrian/Indian accents was the best choice for the elves. The only good thing about this book was that it’s free.

Love the story and this entire series, I don’t remember how many times I’ve listened to these books but upon this iteration of listening, I caught ONE THING. ONE THING THAT URKS ME MORE THAN THE WAY THIS MAN PRONOUNCES “short-lived”.

Am I being picky? Ye. Does it matter? Not really. Do I care? For some reason, yes. Ok, so, the book describes the phylactery that Catti-Brie is tasked to take care of as “red” and Wulfgar even goes as far as to question if it’s a ruby before being corrected by Regis, who states that it’s a sapphire. HOWEVER. IN THIS INSTANCE. REGIS IS TECHNICALLY WRONG. There’s no such thing as a “red sapphire”, all red sapphires are referred to as ‘rubies’, even though sapphires and rubies both belong to the same mineral: corundum. All colors of corundum EXCLUDING RED are referred to as ‘sapphires’ and all “red sapphires” are referred to as RUBIES. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk, have a great rest of your day.
