When choosing which narrator to choose, I let my 11 year old make the choice. He prefers Inglis over the others. In our opinion, listening at 1.15 speed is optimal.

Information is fascinating. Narration is grating.

As others have noted, this is a well-written and fascinating book. However, the narration is mystifyingly stilted and slow. Ultimately, I listened to it at a speed of x1.1 and it changed the whole experience.

Fantastic presentation

This was my introduction to the Seth material. I applaud them for using 3 different narrators. It added much to the performance. I'll definitely listen again.

I am 10 and I loved this book because it is very historical and educational and it is cool to know that boys like me were on the high seas and helping on deck by repairing the boat.

Great book, but better to be read than listened to

I found this book incredibly interesting and paradigm-shifting, but I struggled to hang on to the audio book. There is a lot of pretty heavy scientific and technical information that I personally would have absorbed and more easily understood had I been reading it.

On a purely superficial level, I found the author's incessant vocal fry at the end of almost every sentence hard to listen to. And if it bothers you when people midpronounce the word "nuclear" like George W. Bush ("nu-cue-ler"), this reading will drive you nuts, as the word pops up and is mispronounced every few minutes. Alas, another reason I find the book better than the audio book.

Fascinating and necessary

Very bland narration

I was quite disappointed by this narration. Only made it through the first chapter before deciding to return it and get the much better version available for $.97. Rachel McAdams' reading is very stilted and bland and she makes almost no effort at changing her voice for the characters.

Necessary reading!

This is necessary reading, not just for Europeans, but especially for the US. Better to learn from Europe's mistakes than to repeat them.

The book is wonderful. The audio is quite bad.

The book itself is wonderful. The book is also important, extremely important. That is why I struggled all the way through, trying my best to ignore the faint echo in the background throughout the entire book. It sounds as if someone is in the cubicle next to the narrator narrating the exact same book with a 1 second delay. It is especially noticeable in the brief intervals between sentences or when the narrator is taking a breath. It lasts the entire book. Had I not been so motivated to complete the book, I would have stopped after the first 5 minutes.
